Richard sighed and got into the car. It was a hectic day for him at work. Plus he needed to make sure that he found his brother. Where could Adam have gone to? What had happened to him? Was he safe?
Different questions plagued his mind as he settled on the soft plush car seat. He groaned and punched the seat in anger. He was vicious at the hospital's carelessness. Because of them, he didn't have an idea of where his brother was or what had happened to him.
He hadn't even been able to concentrate on anything since he got back from the hospital and that was why he had fired some of the workers in anger.
"Start the car immediately, Ledger." He commanded Ledger who nodded and switched the ignition.
Ledger steered the car out of the car park and veered unto the road. He drove through the narrow roads carefully as they approached the mansion. Luckily for Richard who was stressed and whose brain was working overtime because he had to think about a lot of possibilities, the traffic wasn't much.
In no time, Ledger got to the mansion. He drove in and parked in the garage. Richard stepped out of the car and banged the car door in anger. His mood hadn't cooled off one bit. His face had a hard cold expression and he heaved in anger.
He gazed at the front door and strode towards it in rage. If Adam wasn't found soon, he would make sure he sued the hospital till they were ruined. He vowed as he approached the door.
Ledger hurried towards the other side to open the door for Richard but he had gotten down himself. His boss was angry. He knew better than to act anyhow. He waited for Richard to create some distance.
Then he opened the car and retrieved Richard's briefcase and his files which he had brought home for the meantime. He closed the door after him and used the key to double-check if the car was closed. He couldn't risk Richard's anger. Not now.
"Welcome home sir." One maid greeted Richard.
He grunted and headed for the stairs. Richard wasn't in the mood to reply to any greetings. He had to find Adam as soon as possible before something which he would regret would happen.
He had brought the files home because he had wrapped up things at the office and had put someone in charge while he made more findings about Adam. He wouldn't be going to the office the next day and he had to complete some paperwork so he brought them home.
Ledger strode through the front door to see a dumbstruck maid staring at Richard as he ascended the stairs into his room. He wondered what she was looking at. Ledger turned to her.
"What are you doing here?" He asked while he made a gesture with his head.
His hands were full so he couldn't use them. The maid sighed and turned her full attention towards him.
"The boss is acting odd today. I greeted him and he didn't bother answering. I hope all is well with him." She said.
"All is." Ledger replied to her curtly and walked to the stairs after Richard.
When he got to the stairs, he turned to his right and headed for Richard's door. Ledger knocked on the door even though it was slightly open. Then he waited for an invitation before entering.
"Come in." Richard invited him in a monotonous tone.
Ledger pushed the door back and entered in with full hands. His heavy build made it possible for him to push the door successfully. He dropped Richard's bag on his bed alongside other things.
Then he stood back, his gaze on the floor while he hung his head down. Richard sighed and rubbed his groin in frustration. He didn't even know what to do or say.
The stress of the day has accumulated and it made his muscles weak. He needed sleep but it was far from him at the moment. He had to think of what to do next.
"Do you have any idea as to where he might be?" Richard plopped on the bed and asked Ledger.
"No sir." Ledger replied.
For someone who had worked with Adam, Richard was surprised that he didn't know Adam's whereabouts. If the driver didn't know, how would he know? He didn't really know his twin.
"What do we do then?" Richard asked.
He was at a crossroads and didn't know what else to do. This was one reason he hated this kind of life. He was stressed beyond words.
"We'll have to ask other hospitals if he was registered there." Ledger finally said something else.
"If he is, how did he get there? Who took him there? Who paid his bills?" Richard fired questions at Ledger.
"I really don't know sir. I was only suggesting." Ledger said immediately.
"We can't keep on assuming. For every minute that passes by, we lose track of him." Richard said.
"How about we employ the use of an investigator?" Ledger suggested.
"We have to look for him discreetly. I do not want this to be a public affair." Richard's voice was glaced with steel as he spoke.
He hated so many things about this life Adam lived. As always, if the media knew, they would launch into deeper investigations that would bring out a lot of things their father had forbidden from the public eyes.
The media would use different headlines to convey a different story to the people and this would hurt the company and their shares. He had to be tactical.
He looked to the files that were now on the table by a side. How did his life change within a few weeks? Just one thing had changed the whole course of his life. He wasn't in charge anymore.
He wished things could be back to normal. This wasn't him. So many lies, stress and things he didn't like were involved and with each day, he found himself going deeper. He wanted to be done with it and forget that he ever had this phase in life.
"You will hire a private investigator to start looking for him discreetly while I hold things here." Richard said.
