Prince Charming

"No Rina, I am not going on any dates!" Hazel whined.

The last 'set-up' Rina did turn out terrible. The guy she went on a date with was so full of himself, made her feel like she should kiss his feet for showing up!

He was good looking alright but that wasn't even to compensate for his terrible attitude.

That is a turn off for her.

A huge one

"Yes, you are! I am not going to let you live your life like this. I want you to give love a chance" Rina coaxed

"I will. But not now. I am barely where I want to be Rina. I mean look at me. I have panic attacks at the slightest sight of violence, I work in a club that makes me dress up like a hooker, and look at my apartment!" Hazel stood on her feet, staring at the space she called home.

" You think I can bring a guy over to a place looking like this? He would think i am some ghetto girl…"

"Stop Hazel please!" Rina joined Hazel holding her hands.

"You are special Hazel. You are beautiful and you can pay your bills. You're hardworking and lovely. And a big baby when you're not scared."

Hazel rolled her eyes

"Zel, you are worth everything in the world. You are attractive enough to make a billionaire flash his entire account just to see you. I mean look at you" Rina glances at Hazel from head to toe in pure awe.

"You have a kind of body that is to die for! You're gloriously endowed Zel!"

Hazel bursts into laughter.

"Really. Why do you think I concluded you were some rich dude's girlfriend? I thought men must be crazy if they didn't date someone as hot as you are" Rina said in pure honesty.

"And still I don't have any suitors"

Rina smirked.

"And when was the last time you took a break uh,"

Hazel shrugs. She never takes a break.

All she ever does is work, and the only thought she had in her head was how to settle her bills.

And her dream….

Far from being achieved.

"I get you now. I won't look down on myself anymore." Hazle collapsed into the couch. Her feet were aching so bad.

"So you're going on the date?" Rina asked in excitement.

Hazel sighed

"Worth a shot"

Rina squeaks in excitement.

She loves getting Hazel ready for a date as this was the only time Zel ever looked hot. All she ever wore is baggy tops and trousers.

No dresses, no skirts, nothing…

"I am so excited. So it's happening tomorrow evening and here " Rina flashed Hazel the picture.

Chocolate brown eyes, charming smile and wavy hair…. He's a total charmer alright.

And a potential playboy…

"He looks like a player!" Hazel pointed out.

Rina rolled her eyes

"You're not bailing out on me Zel. He's no player. I mean I've chatted him up a few times and he's cool"

"You what? What if Greg sees that?"

Rina laughed

"I used your phone"

Hazel stared at her in confusion.

"My phone? Where?" Hazel took out her phone and went through her chats. Rina clicked on the guy's chat and Hazel could barely believe this.

There was a whole day of conversation with this dude.

"When did you…"

"Yesterday? You left your phone at home and I came over. So….I did what I had to do" Rina stared at her nails.

Tina and Greg were the only two who had a spare key to her apartment. It wasn't a surprise they'd come here in her absence. Her apartment was a kind of family home. They hang out together here, settle relationship fights here….

So many memories.

"Why did you even come over?" Hazel asked

"I came back from work early and my neighbours were unreasonably loud. I wanted to sleep so I came here. Hey, who do you think stocked your fridge with some homemade food? And your laundry? Magic doesn't exist you know" Rina said, folding her arms.

Hazel didn't even notice this thing yesterday. She went to bed hungry, thinking her fridge was still pretty much empty. And her laundry?

She didn't even check.

"Thank you"

"You're welcome. So what do you think?" Rina asked, clicking on the guy's profile picture.

"I'm yet to know what you two spoke about," Hazel said going through their chat.

Nothing crazy.

Just a normal introduction and an invite to a date night to get to know each other better.

"Well…He's four years older"

"Uhm Uhm?"

"And he's got a good job too. An agent"

"Uhm Uhm?"

"And he's quite modest too"

"Is that a yes or what?" Rina asked, tugging Hazel's arm.

She smiled

"It's an okay"

Rina smiled in approval.

"What are you going to wear darling?" Rina said, walking towards her wardrobe.

"Uh? Clothes?"

Rina stuck her head out of the room with a glare.

"You better be serious Hazel" she warned

"Rina, I'm going to stop working at the club, and I'm supposed to try to get another job by tomorrow and here I am planning on a date with some guy that looks like a player"

"He is not a player!" Rina warned

"Of course not," Hazel said in sarcasm

"Tell you what, I'll look out for a job for you. Tomorrow is my off day so, I'll make sure to check and search for a good-paying job for you while you get ready for the date" Rina offered

"You don't have to. And besides, I have to go to work tomorrow"

"And you'll be free by evening right?" Rina asked

Hazel sighed; there's no way she's getting out of this.

"Fine."

Her phone beeped; a video call from her potential date.

"Uh, Rina?"

Rina peeps from the room

"What's up?"

Hazel showed Rina her phone screen.

"Why is he calling?" She asked, a tone lined with worry.

Rina squeaks in excitement.

"Talk to him" she urged

"About what?"

"He called you Zel, you don't have to do anything.. "

This is so wrong…
