Her throat felt tight and her skin boiled with unusual rage. She felt like she was going to explode with something she's never felt before!
At this point, she was usually alert. She could feel every pulse and every beat. Her vision became very accurate, she could see the hairs on her back raising.
She's never felt so….different in her entire life! How could she seethe a vein in Tina's neck so clearly despite the distance?
And the almost invisible scratch on Sharon's ear…..
Hazel had never been this upset in her entire life! What on earth is that thing saying to and about her?!
"I called you a slit and I don't mind repeating those words," Tina said moving closer.
Hazel's hands felt tingly with a very strange but strong sensation
//grab her neck//
A voice no louder than a whisper but rather seductive. A voice she might have considered…..
Tina poked Hazel's shoulder as though daring her to do something.
"What are you going to do tough guy? We all know what I said is true" Tina said
Tina and Sharon are the worst gossips in the entire company the staff. Hazel had always wondered why they keep coming back to work here if this job is beneath them like they say.
"We know you were a slut, to begin with, but never thought you'd go this far" Sharon chuckled.
"What proof do you have?" Hazel growled
Tina caught the monstrous look in Hazel's eyes, she flinched for a second at the strange glow in Hazel's eyes….
What was that?
"If you have something to say, you say it to me"
Everyone froze in place as they heard a familiar voice. The boss was there with them.
Matteo walks in, his hands behind his back. A cold look in his eyes as he walks toward them.
"Is there a meeting here?" He asked
Everyone crumbled to their workstations immediately, including Chloe and Orna.
Hazel stared at Matteo, a look of gratitude in her eye. She could recall him, carrying her out of the car the day she'd passed out.
"Sir wants you to hurry up" he offered quietly.
"I was about to get cleaning suppliers"
Hazel helped herself with the supplies in the store.
The anger in her had drained completely into one of panic and nervousness.
How long ago has she left his room to get these? He must be really upset.
Hazel hurried out with the cleaning trolley, only to sigh in relief as she sights Matteo still in the kitchen, eyes examining everyone performing their duty.
"Shall we miss?" He asked, stepping aside for her to walk past
She offered a weak smile as she pushed the trolley in front of her towards the exit.
She was a bit worried to walk back in there and face another round of tongue lashing.
Her anger had been unpredictable and rather strange. She'd felt stronger all of a sudden and if she'd grabbed Tina's neck, she might have snapped it out of place for sure.
What on earth is that weird feeling?
"Are you alright, Miss?" Matteo asked
Hazel offered a weak smile.
"My name is Hazel. Calling me Miss is quite a formality" she offered
"I wouldn't dare to call you by your name Miss," he replied in a rather respectful manner.
"Do you call everyone miss?" She asked
"As a greeting, yes" he replied
The man standing beside her, although careful to stay at least a step behind, was taller and surprisingly huge.
But Vincenzo was bigger than he was for sure. Hazel wondered if there were still species that tall but of course, she's looking at one right now.
"I doubt that" Hazel flicked her tongue
"I understand your doubt, Miss, it is quite unusual for you" he offered
"You can say that again. I have never been referred to as a miss in a long long time. It feels strange to be addressed in that way" she said in sincerity
"Would you understand if I said it's an order from Mr Vincenzo?" He asked
Hazel frowned
"That is understandable. If that doesn't make everyone think I have something with him" She muttered
"Do not worry Miss, those two will never bother you again" he assured, a little frown on his brows as he spoke.
There is something behind those words that make Hazel feel a bit chilly in the spine…
That can't be good ….
"You don't have to. They might have a point and it's unbelievable but I think they have answers to all my questions" She said, lost in thought
"Answers to your questions?" He asked in curiosity
Hazel exhaled
"Thanks for the other day. You were the one who helped me out of the car the other day right?" She asked
He looked genuinely surprised at first.
"You remember that?" He asked
"Yes. Strangely I was unconcerned but I seem to recall a bit of what happened that day" she offered
"The pleasure is all mine" he gave a slight bow of his head
"Why do you all do that? Bow your head?" She asked
"A sign of respect. The men are highly cultured. They pay the due regards to the lady in charge" he offered
"The lady in charge?" Hazel was puzzled.
If there is anything she's in charge of, that would be cleaning up dirt and wiping disturbing surfaces.
"I don't understand" she muttered
"I will take my leave now. Mr Vincenzo is waiting in the car"
Before Hazel could ask any further questions, Matteo bowed his head and hurried towards the entrance.
If there's one thing Hazel had learnt from these men, they sure love to avoid questions.
Would it kill them to give her the right answers?
Hazel pushes her trolley towards the stairs and stops by Annie's class to check up on her.
Like she could sense her presence, Annie turned back to see Hazel's smiling face.
She waves at her and urges her to carry on with her studying.
Annie nods in response and soon returns her attention to her notes immediately.
Hazel exhaled in contentment as she returned to her own 'assignment'. Cleaning up Mr Vincenzo's room.
If she was serious enough, she could get the work done in less than an hour.
Hazel finds her way up the stories and into Vincenzo's room where she did her job rather quickly and was downstairs just in time for dinner to be served.
Chole hurried towards Hazel, a look of worry on her face. When will her friends ever stop worrying about her so much
"Hazel…."
"Can we talk about this later? I promise to answer all your questions but I need to rest. I am dutifully exhausted" Hazel pleaded
Chole hits Hazel in the back playfully.
"I wanted to ask if you've eaten. You silly creature. What questions do I have? I'm more concerned about your feeding! The last thing I want is for Gwen to think I starved you on purpose " Chole informs in her defence.
Hazel chuckled at the ridiculousness of the situation.
"Did you give me lunch? Now you want to know if I had dinner" Hazel folds her arms dramatically
Chole chuckled
"You were busy cleaning and I wouldn't dare step into the boss's room" she offered in her defence
"You all make him seem like some tiger that should beware of" Hazel muttered
"Who shouldn't beware of a tiger? You're not scared of him are you ?" Chole asked
Hazel shook her head, a cute smile on her face.
"Nothing is cleaning your boss's space regularly can't change" she cheered
Chole flicked her tongue at this sight.
"Just be careful. A man like him can be unpredictable " Chole advised with a coated meaning
Hazel nods.
"I'll go drop this off "Hazel leaves for the store where she drops off the trolley.
She found her way to the kitchen where Chole handed her a luscious-looking chicken.
"Should I be worried?" Hazel asked
"It's a get well soon meal" Chole assured
Hazel showed her gratitude by eating the whole thing without leaving a grain.
She had the best friends in the whole world.
***********************
Hazel was at work in Vincenzo's room once more. This routine is never getting old, is it? It's been three days since his outburst and he's not even trying to avoid her…..
Vincenzo had called for her so early to clean up his room and put his things in place.
Hazel had frowned at his use of words but went on to clean his room either way.
He is the boss, right?
Matteo stepped into the study, gaining Hazel's attention.
"Good morning Matteo" she smiled
He bowed in reply
"Sir, want you to meet someone"
Hazel looked puzzled.
"I believe this is more important," he said. Something close to a smile found its way to his lips.
Before she could make out his expression, he turned his back to her, leading the way to the large living space.
Ohkay….
Who was she to meet?
