Chapter 1

After all what transpired that day, I couldn't stop asking myself this question... Who is the true villain in this story; is it Ego, Lord Supreme or ME?!.

We were born alone

And we die alone

No, oh oh

What a way to go

Now I'm on my own

But I'm not sorry, no.

It's night time in the city, lights shinning bright across the streets. Nothing like a peaceful and fun night eating ice cream and cotton candy in the amusement park. People screaming loudly as they ride down the rollercoaster, and playing all sort of games. Seriously, what could possibly go wrong, it's not like some insanely powerful being can just appear from nowhere and start shooting laser beams and killing everyone I mean common.

A little kid just got a two scoop double decker ice cream and was ready to chow it down. A crowded park with different people laughing and shouting, the screams from the rollercoaster making it difficult to communicate with one another suddenly experienced perfect silence, then a figure appeared from nowhere. Floating in mid air, and just staring. It flew with so much speed that it almost seemed like he performed instant teleportation, a loud Sonic boom was heard upon it's arrival. So powerful, it created shockwaves which could be felt throughout the park knocking the ice cream off the cone right when the little guy was just about to place his tongue on it.

Curious, the kid raised his gaze to see a silhouette shaped like a man wearing a cape as it danced in rhythm to the wind. Eyes suddenly turned red, nothing different from that of a boiling lava. A chill night became as hot as a desert. The kid was completely amazed with what he was seeing and called to his mom's attention "look mom it's Superman" pointing towards the direction of the floating stranger. Sweat slowly rolled down the right side of his face and dropped to the ground. Then in an instant, before the drop of sweat could reach the ground, out came a large beam of heat vision he fired at light speed. The incredibly hot flares could cut through iron bars of a rollercoaster like a sharp knife slicing through a soft, juicy piece of tomato.

A man with his child tried to evade the beams that were being fired harum-scarum. He finally hid behind a car in a place that wasn't affected by the reckless firing of the heat vision, he held on tight to his daughter "but daddy, I thought superheroes were supposed to protect us not hurt us" she said with a frightened voice.

"its alright baby, everything's gonna be okay" he said with tears rolling down his cheeks.

"You are right little girl, we will protect you and your father and everyone else here" a voice echoed from the shadowy depths of the park, next to where they were hiding. The man looked to see a figure with clear white eyes, pitch black costume with black aura surrounding him and two swords forming an X sign behind his back. "you should get your daughter out of here if you truly love her" he stretched his arm to open up a black coloured portal. He hesitated "it's safe, don't be afraid" the stranger said. He stepped into the portal and vanished.

A blue blur could be seen swiftly moving everyone away from the park to safety at light speed, others with flashy costumes started appearing through same portals from earlier; thus, catching the strangers attention.

"What is your name? And does your presence here mean you will join me and aid me in my mission as my subordinates?" He stopped with the destruction and gently landed.

"Our name is of no concern to you and the only thing our presence here means is that you've met your end" the same stranger from earlier said, voice echoing through the dilapidated park with piercing eyes colliding. The wind carrying the sound of their heartbeat, with chilled air on a fiery arena.

"Your presence disgust me" he finally spoke, levitating himself upwards. Complete parts of a wrecked rollercoaster system following his telekinetic will, all rose above his head. "Now die!".

It was ten years ago when something similar to this happened. For some, that was when it all started. But for me, it all started at that park.

Do you know what the best part about living in a world of superheroes is? It's having superpowers. I mean come on, these abilities can help solve many life problems and make life seem much easier to live. They're like typical life hacks. Coffee got cold and can't wait in line for another one? Easy, just heat it up with some heat breath and your latte is as good as new. Running late for work and there's road traffic? Easy, just open up a portal and there you have it, instant transportation. How fascinating!.

But of course, not everyone is blessed with these gifts, only a few with special genetically enhanced cells possesses these abilities.

The worst part about living in a world of superheroes is being born by legendary superheroes, having these special genetically enhanced cells, but having no superpowers. That's were I come in. People like us are known as the ‘Abnormals’.

It's a new day at SPA which is short for Superhuman Academy. Today is definitely not gonna be any different from other days. As abnormals, we only perform normal school activities like going for science classes and the likes but the gifted ones have special classes where they practice in mastering their abilities.

“Hey Kyle!” I heard from a distance and turned to see who it was, i suddenly felt my heart skip a little as I saw her walking into the main building, every step gives a different sensation. Her cologne creates auras that only those enthralled by her lucid looks can see. It all faded in an instant as she walked past me like I wasn't a living soul, behind her was Jordan who came riding on a skateboard.

“Oh hey, Jordan” I replied with a slightly reluctant voice due to the embarrassing disappointment I just received. My eyes still locked on Priya as she gallantly walked through the hallway. My eyes weren't the only one caught in this ‘Genjutsu’, as Jordan would call it.

He noticed my attention was completely caught by the sight, “ohhhh, I see. Happens to you too han?” he asked right after tapping me by the shoulder.

I regained full control of myself and answered “wh-wha-what do you mean?”

He opened a snack and took a bite “you know, I wonder why she's considered an Abnormal” took a handful and stuffed it right in his mouth, pieces dropping on the floor.

The janitor yelled from a corner “Jordaaan! Dirtying me floor again eh?”

“Apologies Mr. Steaven” he said, trying to imitate his British accent. “What I'm trying to say is she shouldn't be seen as one of us, she clearly has superpowers”

Confused, I took some chips from him and asked “well what's her superpower?”

“She's SUPER hot!” he said.

You know, for some reason he might be right, I mean he does have a point. She can definitely take down criminals with her looks.

He continued “when I look at her, I can travel fifty years into the future, can you imagine?!. At six grade, I was already her grand children's Grandpa, how crazy is that?”

“You have no idea” I mumbled.

I could hear his voice flowing through my ears non stop as we went through the hallway.

A discussion among the supreme rulers who keeps the balance between the superhumans and lesser beings (a nickname for the average humans) was being held at the BSI which is a short for Bureau of Superhuman Intelligence.

It was a quiet room filled with high ranking superhumans all seated round a glass table with each one of them possessing a special watch proving their membership. “He is back and this time it's gonna be much worse than it was last time” One of the members finally broke the silence.

“And how is that?” one queried.

“I believe we're all versed on the kind of abilities this threat possesses, we've all seen him in action and we can all tell how incredibly powerful he is”. He replied, “he also proved it to us that nothing's changed since the last ten years by besting our finest superheroes last night with little to no difficulty.

“This could only mean one thing” a person spoke with a hoarse voice and with the way they all reacted, you could easily tell that he was the leader. “he's evolving, we have to find a way to defeat him now before it's too late”.

“How do you suggest we do that sir?”.

He snapped his fingers towards a nerdy looking man standing right next to him. He hurriedly brought out a tablet and clicked on it, linking it to a nearby screen.

“Years ago after making a few research, i discovered that he isn't of a lone existence, his medium of existence is through a vessel”.

“And what exactly does that mean?”

“It means he shares his soul with a vessel then takes full control over that body in order for him to exist. He did got separated from this vessel; thereby making him a being of his own but was never to be seen after his fight with the cosmic glider ten years ago. That is...until now”.

“Which means he now has a new vessel” said one of the high ranking superhuman. “So how do you plan on defeating him with this information?” he asked.

The leader stood up, sauntering towards the glass door which lead to the entrance and said “Its easy. You kill the host, you kill the parasite”.
