Chapter 99 Knowledge

"A pity I missed such an interesting scene," Shung Yun muttered as he leaped onto Haru's back before taking hold of the halter on his neck, "let's head back home."

Leaving Yuhan Town after handling some matters, he rode on Haru while he conversed with a middle-stage middle aged man riding on a grey colored horse beside him.

"I don't really know much about the true gods of the other races, but I know that we humans have a total of five[5] existing true gods," the middle-stage middle aged man said as he answered Shung Yun.

"I read that the people in the Sacred Temple Continent don't believe in any of the true gods of humanity, is that true?" Shung Yun said as he asked his hired body.

"Yes. They believe in a renowned and powerful Buddhist cultivator who comprehended the truth of suffering, and the truth of the end of suffering," the middle-stage middle aged man said as he shared his knowledge with Shung Yun.

"The renowned Buddhist cultivator is Buddha, right?" Shung Yun inquired from the upper-stage dantian unsealing realm cultivator.

"Yes. But the name Buddha was given to him as a title after he comprehended the true essence of Buddhist teachings," the middle-stage middle aged man said as he showed his knowledge in history, "his birth name was Siddhartha Gautama."

"You're really knowledgeable of the history of the other continents of humanity," Shung Yun said as the knowledge of his guard and assistance surprised him.

Staying silent without any follow up comment to Shung Yun's praise, the middle-stage middle aged man quietly rode beside him as they left the territory of Yuhan Town and arrived in the territory of the strongest fists.

Making a camp at night to rest, Shung Yun spent a couple of hours on his now progressive beast essence comprehension before heading to bed, leaving the night watch to his hired bodyguard, Mangro and Haru.

Continuing his journey back to Byui Village after having breakfast with the middle-stage middle aged hired bodyguard, he arrived at the territory of his destination an hour after noon.

"Stop," the middle-stage middle aged man said as he motioned for Shung Yun to stop his movement, "there are hostile intents directed towards us."

Having a lower cultivation rank than his hired bodyguard, Shung Yun didn't sense any abnormality until the ones with hostile intents got within ten[10] meters from him.

"Quing Village's soldiers," he muttered after seeing the orderly squad of forty[40] yellow armored soldiers.

Wearing a cautious expression on his face after getting within five[5] meters from the two[2] horse riding strangers in front of him, the captain of the squad bowed his head as he greeted the middle-stage middle aged man, "on behalf of the Quing Village, can I ask what senior's aim is for coming?"

Not answering the question asked by the middle-stage male youth captain in front of him, the middle-stage middle aged hired bodyguard said, "from my knowledge of this area, Byui Village is charge of the surrounding territories. Why are the soldiers of Quing Village obstructing people from getting into Byui Village?"

"Because we're at war with Byui Village," the captain of the scouting unit said as he looked at the powerhouse in front of him.

"He has no knowledge of the war, that means he isn't invited by the higher ups of Byui Village to help them out," he thought as his wariness against Shung Yun's hired bodyguard lessened.

"Ubei must have lead the others towards the far south of the Oak forest," Shung Yun thought after figuring out the reason why he hasn't re-established connection with Ubei, Ikunga, and the rest of his subordinate after arriving within peripheral of the village.

Turning towards his client after hearing the words of the captain, he asked, "what do you say we do?"

"Raise my contribution to the village," Shung Yun said as he threw out a bunch of inscribed papers containing his fiery symbols towards the soldiers of Quing Village.

"Fallback!!" the captain of the scouting unit shouted after sensing danger from the bunch of papers thrown towards his subordinates.

"Why the hurry?" Shung Yun said with a smile on his face as he stretched out his left hand towards the yellow armored captain.

"What the!" the yellow armored captain exclaimed after suddenly getting tied by an iced Qi chain.

Boom!!

The fiery symbols on the thrown-out paper exploded before releasing a torrent of flames that swept through the soldiers of the scouting unit.

"Aahh!!!" sorrowful screams tore through the sky as the smell of burnt flesh spread through air with the aid of the wind in the surrounding.

"Magnificent!" Shung Yun exclaimed as the screams of the soldiers drilled into his ears, producing the song of enlightenment and heightening his soothing feeling.

"No," the yellow armored captain mumbled as he felt disheartened over the state of his soldiers.

"Why so dispirited?" Shung Yun spoke as he turned towards his prisoner, "you should be excited and happy that they were cleansed by the flames of purification. A new life of their dreams is now opened to them."

"There are no true gods with that kind of belief," the middle-stage middle aged hired guard thought as his image of Shung Yun crumbled after hearing his words, "is he a fanatic of a hidden organization?"

"... Y…. You're crazy! You're a maniac!!" the yellowed armored captain shouted after staying speechless for a few seconds after hearing Shung Yun's words.

"You're scaring your horse," Shung Yun said as the yellow armored captain's effort in escaping his bounds came to null.

"It should be the other way around," the hired guard thought as he looked at the terrified horse, "it doesn't even dare to move an inch due to the aura of the iced Qi chain binding his owner."

"You will regret ever attacking the soldiers of Quing Village! Your death will be a hundred[100] times worse than mine!!" the yellow armored captain shouted as he looked at Shung Yun with hate filled eyes.

"I'm looking forward to it," Shung Yun said as he formed a new iced Qi chain that covered the yellow armored captain's mouth.

Coming to an end after three[3] minutes, charred corpses littered the ground as the soldiers and horses of Quing Village's scouting unit laid dead on the path leading to Byui Village's entrance gate.

"That was great while it lasted. Let's go," Shung Yun said as he led his hired bodyguard and his captured prisoner towards his village.

"Can this war just end!? I hate being in a state of constant wariness," Shung Bulin grumbled as he sat with his legs spread apart and a plate of rice with vegetables in the middle.

"The higher ups of Quing Village might have all gone insane. They don't seem to mind the number of corpses accumulated over the past four[4] weeks," Shung Dong said as he drank from the wooden cup in his hand.

"Do you think the village chief and the other leading figures in the village will suddenly wake up in a bright morning and choose to wage war with the goal of sending their descendants to their deaths?" Shung Kai asked as he quickly ate from his plate.

"No. I don't think that's possible," Shung Dong said without spending much time to think about his answer.

"That's the same with the higher ups of Quing Village. The benefits awaiting them must be way higher than the lives of a majority of their descendants," Shung Kai said as he withheld his chopstick from reaching his mouth.

"D.. Does that mean the village have something so valuable that the higher ups might choose to sacrifice our lives to defend against Quing Village?" Shung Dong let go of the meat in his hand as great fear rose within his heart after comparing what Shung Kai said with the reaction of a village worth attacking.

"Maybe," Shung Kai's voice was low as Shung Dong's question weighed on his heart.

!!!

"What's going on outside?" Shung Bulin asked as he grabbed his saber lying beside him before ignoring his food and getting to his feet.

Already on his feet with his weapon in his hand, Shung Dong said, "the signal to assemble the soldiers for defense wasn't used."

"Then we should be more careful," Shung Kai said as he held his sword beside him while walking towards the exit door of the tent.

"Ca..captain!" he blurted out in surprise as he looked at the new comers garnering the attention of the entire camp.
