Ch 17 Let me down! Part 2

Beth was telling Misty something when her eyes involuntarily looked up and she immediately stopped in her steps at the sight of live humans hanging from her living room like some kind of ritualistic sacrifice, considering that one of them was her half-dressed granddaughter, she couldn't stop herself from cursing, "What in the bloody fu*k is this?"

"Granny! Thank Merlin you're finally here. Come on, Get me down from her, fast!" Celine said, her body swinging involuntarily in her excitement, "And don't let this pervert thief, escape,"

"I had forgotten about this ward..." Beth said to herself under her breath while looking at the scene in front of her with wide eyes.

It took her a moment to remember that one time in Celine's childhood when Beth had gotten fed up with her antics and she had added this punishment ward in her frustration. But if she remembered it right then it was only supposed to keep working for a few minutes but from the look of those two it didn't seem as if they had only been there for a few minutes.

The ward in her house had gained a little sentience over the years due to her heavy modifications every few months. So Beth assumed that when the ward felt both of them using magic above a certain limit, it didn't want to resort to other dangerous solutions considering that Beth had put both perpetrators as Friendlies so it must have defaulted to the lowest punishment it could find in there.

"Hey, Granny! Don't daydream and get me down quickly," Celine said impatiently while Sirius just waited there silently.

Beth waved her wand at Celine, who smiled happily at finally escaping and fantasizing about how she would punish the detestable basta*d hanging behind her, but the only thing that happened was that a T-shirt appeared on her and nothing else, "Hey, What the hell!" She shouted when she saw that Beth had put her wand away without having any intention of doing anything else.

Beth just ignored her shouting granddaughter and turned to Misty who looked at everything with wide eyes, "Put away everything in their proper place, Misty. And Bring me some tea, it looks like I might be needing some,"

"Yes Mistress, And Should Misty, prepare some food for the little Mistress, Mistress," Misty asked innocently while looking at her naughty little Mistress with pity.

"No need for that,"

"Hey! Hey! Why are you ignoring me like that, Granny," Celine implored but Beth just ignored her while moving to sit on the sofa.

"Are you really her granddaughter?" Sirius asked skeptically but she ignored him.

"Granny, Please let me down," Celine asked sweetly this time when she saw that shouting wasn't working, "Don't tell me you're still angry about the last time,"

Instead of answering her granddaughter, Beth turned toward Sirius and asked, "When did you manage to complete the task?"

"About two hours ago," Sirius answered, his eyes going from the granddaughter to the grandmother in confusion, trying to understand the pair's relationship.

"Hmm... Seems like you didn't fall for the last trick," Beth said while looking at him in a little surprise, "I thought you would definitely take the bait with your gullibleness,"

If Sirius was offended by her basically calling him stupid then he didn't show it on his face. He asked instead, "Can you let me down? It's getting uncomfortable here,"

"As if," Celine scoffed, "No way, she lets you down before me—" before she could even complete her sentence Beth nodded to Sirius, "Considering that you completed that labyrinth in good enough time I guess you deserve it,"

Sirius was gently lowered and deposited on the ground by the ward which he knew could be controlled by Beth's thoughts. The ropes on his legs and his hands loosened up and Sirius stood and started moving his body to get the blood moving before taking his wand from the table where they had been deposited neatly by the ward.

"Granny! You—" Celine shouted in a betrayed tone at her grandmother but was interrupted again.

"I don't think I need to tell you about how dangerous it was to use magic in here. The ward was lenient as this was your first time, it may not be so the next time," Beth warned.

Sirius nodded and as his eyes roamed around, he noticed that even though Celine had used quite a few heavy curses and charms (Transfiguration was a lot less useful inside) none of the furniture or the expensive artifacts in the living room had been damaged. It seemed as if all of the stuff in here was protected by an individual ward of their own.

"I am STILL HERE! How could you ignore your cute granddaughter like this, and don't tell me you really took this thief as your student," Celine said indignantly, "How could you! H-How could you throw away your granddaughter just like that..." At the end of her sentence, her eyes grew big and wet and her face looked like she was about to cry, and if Sirius hadn't already been duped by it he would have believed her, so good was her acting.

"If you think that I'll fall for that then I am sorry to say that you haven't improved at all," Beth said finally designing to look at her granddaughter.

"Didn't you get my apology letter granny," Celine said in a sad, "I thought you would have forgiven me by now,"

"Forgive! Forgive YOU!" Beth's shouted, her voice rising with each word as she finally lost her patience, "You upped and left one day in the middle of the night while leaving behind that small piece of paper telling me that, 'you'll be back in a while... Sorry,'. SORRY! Are you telling me I was supposed to be fine with THAT," She was breathing heavily by the end of her rant.

Sirius felt that he wasn't needed for whatever family drama that was happening in front of he was ever so slowly moving toward the fireplace, hoping to leave here without both of them noticing him.

"My friend had found this new tomb and I knew that you wouldn't let me go, so... I-I-"

"So you just left for two months without telling me where you were going or why going," Beth asked with a raised eyebrow, "Did you not think that I would be worried? That at least you should think to leave some way to contact you,"

Beth's face was frozen in anger but it wasn't all real as she had always known where Celine was at all times and took appropriate steps to make sure that she was safe at all times. But because she wanted Celine to feel guilty for worrying she was showing her how upset she was with her.

"I am sorry Granny," Beth said remorsefully, "I didn't about it too much at the time... I guess I was just too excited and made a stupid decision..."

Beth sighed and looked at her before asking something that she had been confused about at the start, "And why the hell was you half-naked,"

Sirius had reached the fireplace by that point and taken some floor powder from the pot nearby and was just about to leave when he heard that question.

"That's because of that Pervert—"

"Beth I think I should leave for the day," Sirius said quickly before throwing the floo powder in and shouting the name of his place, he jumped without wasting a simple moment. As he was spinning away from that place, Sirius felt as if he could still hear the cursing.
