You don't love me

"I just know." Lyre shrugged. "I don't know how, but I know when I'm being lied to, and when the person is saying the truth. I can tell he's not lying, Rain."

"Even if that's the case, I'm not going anywhere. They can all perish in hell for all I care!"

"And what of you? Are you keen to die with them?" A tear slid down Lyre's face. "Do you want to leave me alone, here?"

"No, baby. Don't say that." Rain wiped Lyre's tears, feeling guilty. "I won't leave you. Not even death can tear us apart. I'm yours, and will always be." He kissed Lyre's cheeks.

"Then, are you going to help your people?" Lyre hopefully asked.

"Anything, but that."

*******

"Rain," Lyre touched Rain's forehead." You are burning up!" He exclaimed, alerting the mother, who was downstairs preparing breakfast for them.

"Shh." Rain groaned. "Your scream can wake the dead. You know that, right?" He frowned at Lyre.

"You are burning up, yet you think to joke about that." Lyre glared at him.
