Winterization

Winter came early and it had been so relentless that even Commander Lothian was caught off guard.

Without the ability to train as hard as the other knights, Henry occupied his time shadowing the commander and making sure that the entire fief was in order for the cold weather.

Peasants got ready for winter by drying meat, pickling vegetables, patching up their houses, collecting firewood, and bringing in the animals so that they could remain warm during the freeze. That was what Henry knew about winter.

However, the commander showed him a new side of things. Not only did he have to make sure the walls and the fortress itself were ready to take on snow and frost, but he also had to be sure that the workers inside had everything they needed for the cold.
