The Grips of Love

The commander quickly built a fire with the supplies he had around him. Luckily, it had been a dry late winter for that village so there wasn't snow melt to deal with and the dry grass and boards easily caught fire.

The shrieking of the revenant eventually ceased and he took that as a bad sign.

His worries were valid when he went back into the building and found the monster dragging itself across the dirt floor, its body mangled from escaping the spear that pierced it into the ground.

Regretting the fact that he had taken his gloves off to sleep, he had no choice but to jump back into the dirt basement and grab the awful monster with his bare hands. His actions caused it to start screeching again.

With the fire large enough to do some damage, the commander dropped the revenant into the flames.

The shrieking eventually ceased when the necromancer's magic didn't have a physical being to hold onto anymore.
