Return To Her Safely

"It's him isn't it?"

"Stop! He saw me!"

There was a gasp in response to the words and a shuffling of feet.

A flash of light brown hair disappeared around the corner and he was left to himself.

Henry could have sworn he had lightly shut the door when he entered the room the family had given him to rest. However, the candlelight falling into his room and casting a long shadow told him otherwise.

Unless of course someone had quietly opened the door while he was unconscious. After all, he had slept harder than he meant to. The two hours of sleep the night before were starting to catch up to him.

Now that he was awake and there was no returning to sleep, he sat up on the cot, causing it to creak underneath his weight and he ran his hands through his hair as well as tightening the string of his tunic so his shirt would come together and he would feel somewhat less exposed after being watched while he dozed.
