Backing up for brother

Kevin and Amber are getting along pretty good. She is happy with him and most importantly Kevin is happy after being alone for over centuries.

I really wish they be together forever. If only he listen to me tell her all by himself, he'll save his misery !

I was sitting in my room thinking about them when I heard Amber scream. Firstly, I thought they were in action; he is aggressive in bed with his companions, so I overlooked.

But she was screaming,

' Let me go '

I've never heard it from her before !

She is in danger ! I rushed to her room and Kevin was drinking from her neck !

I rushed and threw him away from her. He was so thirsty for her blood he didn't even looked at me and came rushing for her blood again.

" Stop right there, Kevin ! "

I said grabbing him tight.

He hissed at me for being the obstacle between him and his prey. He tried to get to her by pushing me away but I threw him back again.

" Kevin stop ! She is Amber ! You don't want to hurt her, do you ? "

I said.

He glared and hissed at me. But when, he saw Amber hiding behind my back and scared of him, he gave her an apologetic look and rushed out of the room.

I turned to her,

" Are you alright, darling ? Did he hurt you bad ? "

I asked her concerned.

She was in shock of what had just happened. I made her sit on the couch and got her some water. She gulped it down in one go.

" Amber ? Are you alright ? "

I asked her again.

" Yeah... I think so... "

Amber said shivering.

" Let me see how bad is it. "

I said.

I examined her wound, he had punctured her main blood vessel and she was bleeding bad. She do really smell intoxicating !

For a moment even I lost my mind and wanted to taste her blood. But I somehow controlled myself.

She is already scared and I don't need to add some more in it. Her wound was deep and the blood won't stop flowing.

I punctured my wrist and offered her my blood, as it would heal her wound like magic. Our blood have healing property.

She was looking at me dumbfounded.

" What are you doing ? "

Amber asked confused.

" Saving your life ! Have it. "

I said reaching my wrist close to her mouth.

" I am not a vampire, Ethan ! I don't drink blood. Take your hand away...

It healed ! You injury is healed ! "

Amber said surprised to see my wound heal superfast.

" I know. We heal real quick and our blood has the healing property to heal other's wounds as well. So, drink it and your wound will heal too. "

I told her.

She hesitated to do what I had asked her to do, but I insisted and she gave it a try and her wound healed and the blood stopped flowing from her neck.

She was so surprised because of what had happened. She again and again checked the wound on her neck, which was now healed.

" He...

He just... "

Amber said stammering recalling what Kevin had done.

" Forgive him, darling. He was out of his mind. He haven't fed in a while and your blood DOES smell delicious and inviting... "

I told her the truth.

Daniel and Steve entered the room,

" What an intoxicating smell it is ! Amber, your blood does smells delicious. If, Kevin and Ethan got some, can we too have some please ? "

Daniel said making a puppy face.

" Yes ! Your blood smells strong as well. I was in the back yard and yet I smelled it and rushed here. It's so strong and delicious ! "

Steve said licking his lips.

She was scared to death and hide behind me, clutching on my shoulders, asking silently for help and I will save her !

" Back off, guys ! It was an accident. Go back to your work. She is not some public property, she is our friend and we don't hurt friends ! "

I said covering her behind my back.

" Why not tell the same to your brother as well, Ethan ? "

Daniel said sarcastically.

" You both need to stop being hypocrites, you know. Let's go Daniel. We'll go find some snack somewhere else. "

They rushed out of her room. She was shivering as she was so scared. She even flinched away form me when, I tried to caresse her.

Amber said helplessly.

I said trying to assure her.

" That means, it is gonna happen again in near future ! I am sorry but I can't risk my life for your uncontrollable blood lust. I need to go. "

Amber said hugging herself tightly.

" And where do you think you will go ? Travis destroyed your only living place. And you only know how does it feels to be hunted by a group of 15 vampires ! Who without flinching for a bit will kill you for your blood ! "

I said making her remember that horrible night.

" Didn't your brother too just tried to kill me for my blood ? Once it's ok to know that, some stranger wants to kill me for my blood, but my own friend ?

Try to think like, you have been starved for months and then you get unlimited and your favorite food and asked to take as much as you want !

You started eating and someone tried to stop you and distract you from eating it, would you be able to focus on anything else than eating ? "

I said trying to explain her the bloodlust.

She thought for a moment. Looked at me and then at the floor.

" He didn't meant to hurt you, darling. In any possible way. Trust me ! He was already hungry and then, he got his favourite dish and he couldn't...

I said assuring her.
