Having Warm Food For The First Time

The physician left after giving an ointment to Evelyn.

She didn't apply it immediately as she had applied the ointment given by the cook just a few hours ago. Thinking this, she decided to save the ointment for future injuries.

She couldn't sleep anymore. So she climbed down from the bed and decided to do some chores.

She didn't want Regan to think of her as a useless person. After all, he had used the money to buy her.

She halted when she saw the untouched food on the table.

Did he not have his dinner?

She remembered that he had just started when she starts to feel the things in front of her eyes going blurry.

A heavy sigh escaped from her lips. Thinking for a moment, she decided to go to the kitchen and see if she could cook something fresh or reheat the food for him.

However, just when she was about to step out of the chambers, she saw a maid coming towards her in hurry.

The maid had a tray in her hands. When she approached Evelyn, the latter saw that the tray was filled with different kinds of dishes.

Evelyn thought that food must be for Regan as he didn't have his dinner.

The aroma of the delicious dishes immediately wafted through Evelyn's nose and she couldn't help but gulp.

She felt embarrassed when her stomach growled suddenly and avoided the maid's eyes. In the past, regardless of how hungry she had been, her stomach never made such weird sounds. It must be because of the aroma of these delicious dishes that even her hypnotism on herself that she was not hungry would not work.

However, the maid looked too panicked to pay attention to Evelyn.

She looked at Evelyn for a few moments in shock as well as admiration before she asked her

"Where should I keep it?"

Evelyn stepped forward and whispered

"Let me do it."

Taking the tray from the maid's hands, she went towards the table and kept the dishes from the tray there. Looking at the already cold dishes, Evelyn wondered if she could ask Regan whether she could eat them.

If she sent back those dishes with the maid, they must be thrown with other waste.

So would it not be better that she would eat them?

After a moment of thought, Evelyn put the three plates in the tray and kept only one for herself.

He would not be so petty to let her have this much food right? …especially when the food was cold.

The maid looked at Evelyn and then at the tray that had the plates of cold dishes. She seemed to be wishing to say something but in the end, left silently.

Evelyn turned around and looked at the table again.

She looked away immediately when she felt tempted to eat the food. She must wait for the prince and then ask for his permission to eat.

Fortunately, Regan returned soon.

She didn't if it was her illusion but he looked colder than he seemed to be when he left the chambers.

Was it because she didn't follow his order?

But she had tried her best.

Evelyn came out of her thoughts when she heard Regan asking her

"Are you not hungry?"

"Huh…yes…I mean no…"

Evelyn shut her mouth. Just now she was so much into her thoughts that she blurted out the answer without thinking carefully.

She lowered her head as she wondered what she should say in explanation. He was already angry. She didn't want to anger him more.

Even though half of his face was covered, she could see from the right side of his forehead, that he was frowning deeply.

"If you are hungry, then why did you not eat?"

Evelyn raised her head and saw Regan looking at herself and then towards the food on the table.

She blinked and then swallowed.

"Is …is it for me?"

Her voice was almost a whisper but Regan heard it. The frown on his forehead disappeared. He stared at her for a few moments and then nodded his head.

"It is for you. Go and eat."

Needless to say, Evelyn was shocked. It took her a moment to compose herself. When she saw Regan walking towards the bed, she stepped forward and called him out.

"That…would Your Highness join me….I mean this slave?"

Evelyn corrected herself soon. In front of her previous slaveowners, she didn't have to address herself like this but since Regan was a prince, she had to accord herself to this new habit.

Seeing that he didn't mind her mistake, she continued

"This slave …just saw the cold dishes. Your Highness didn't eat as well then how can this slave …"

Her voice couldn't help but become lower and lower as she continued.

By the end of her words, Evelyn realized how stupid her proposal was.

He was a prince…a royal Prince. He wouldn't eat with a slave.

However, she was left shocked when Regan nodded his head and said

"Come."

Like a calf, Evelyn silently followed him.

Only when Regan was seated on the chair, she bent her knees to sit down. However, her arm was suddenly caught in a firm but gentle grip.

Startled at the sudden touch, Evelyn controlled herself from throwing the hand away that was touching her arm and looked at Regan in confusion.

But the latter was looking at her with an equally deep frown.

"What are you doing?"

Evelyn looked at Regan and then towards the floor as she whispered

"This slave was sitting."

"On the floor?"

Regan asked with almost an incredulous expression on his face. When Evelyn nodded her head in confusion, his face was as hard as steel. He breathed deeply and then said suddenly.

"Go and sit on the chair."

He spoke as he signed her towards the chair that was placed in just front of him, on the other side of the round table.

Evelyn looked towards the chair and then back at him.

When Regan saw that she was not moving, his expression went worse.

Seeing this, Evelyn immediately moved towards the chair. It felt weird to sit on the comfy chair where she didn't feel the coldness of the floor.

She lowered her head and her fingers unconsciously touched the padded seat beneath her butt.

It was very soft.

Regan watched her actions calmly for a few moments before he said

"Eat"

Evelyn immediately took her hands back and picked up the spoon and turned around the plate placed on the table.

She forwarded her hand to pick up the plate that had the meal from before but Regan picked it up before she could do so and forwarded another plate in front of her.

"Have something light."

Evelyn understood what he was trying to say. Since she was eating after three days, she should have some light food.

However, she felt conflicted as she saw Regan calmly putting the cold dishes in his plate.

But she decided not to speak anymore lest she will frustrate him with her talks.

She silently stirred the porridge and had it.

It was perhaps the most delicious food she had ever had. In fact, it was her first time to have warm food as far as she could remember.

Evelyn blinked the moisture suddenly surfacing in her eyes and stuffed her mouth with porridge to distract herself.

When she was finished, she raised her head, only to find Regan looking at herself as he leaned against his chair.

She lowered her head and wondered if he had been looking at her when she was stuffing her mouth.

Her thoughts came to halt when she heard Regan say

"Pack your things. We are leaving."

She raised her head again when she heard these words and looked at Regan who was now getting up from the chair.

Leaving?

To where?

Evelyn had wanted to ask but stayed silent because she didn't know if she had the right to ask.

Just when she was about to get up from the chair, she saw Regan suddenly turning around. His blue cape flew around because of his move.

A gasp escaped from Evelyn's lips when he suddenly put his arms on the armrest of her chair…and then bent his body to lean closer to her.
