Regan was scared to see Evelyn.
He didn't know what he will say to her when she would ask him whether he completed his promise or not.
She trusted him to protect her. Would she still trust him?
However, Rex continued to drag him to the chambers regardless of what Regan said. In the end, Rex pushed the door and stepped inside the chambers with his brother only to find Evelyn seated at the table and reading a book.
Regan's eyes softened at the sight.
She had been doing everything he had asked her to do.
She had stayed inside these chambers without any complaints. How suffocating it must be to stay here locked! He couldn't even imagine and he couldn't even tell for how long she would have to stay like that.
His heart was filled with guilt and shame at this thought.
"Evelyn, what are you reading?"
Rex asked with a smile on his lips. Evelyn smiled back lightly and passed him the book. Rex nodded his head as he saw the cover.
It was a biography of an adventurer.
