Morning

Late into the night when the rain had started to fall, the first to be infected were those that were outside during the late night, the homeless and any animals.

The people that were on night duty at work were also at risk because they had chances to drink tap water or stepped outside.

More patients were brought in suffering a high fever to the hospitals which caused others to be called into work.

Once the people started to turn into zombies and attacked others which caused the spread, it was already too late to stop it.

Some warnings did get out from the survivors who locked themselves in a room so the police were tasked with investigating.

The police did not believe the police reports over the phone so went to investigate but were ill equipped to handle it.

They were quickly overrun and the remaining survivors called for backup while reporting their situation.

Government officials were alerted very quickly but did not take it too seriously at first too but they had to accept it once the reports on those officers going missing or reported dead along with the communication in certain places being cut off.

They were able to make contact with the army and police forces along with some news outlets but it did not take long for others to develop a fever within their work places or homes due to their own carelessness and lack of understanding over how it had suddenly appeared and spread.

In most places, many were caught off guard and were not prepared to face the threat even if they did have weapons or guns nearby.

Not everyone was able to overcome the mental barrier that stopped them from attacking the new zombies that appeared which could have been their loved ones, friends or family.

When the morning came, not everyone was able to watch the news before they went out according to their daily routines while some had been infected earlier when they had a glass of water or a cup of tea or coffee before they left.

Not everyone was fully awake yet and did not notice the warning signs around them while the zombies had only begun to slightly deteriorate so many were caught off guard when they walked into one or drove into one with their car.

Being in close range or going to investigate put them in danger of being bitten and those bitten then killed were the quickest to turn while those that escaped became potential dangers to those around them.

The army, the government and the police took a major loss while many others were caught up in the chaos later whether it was out in the open, on their way to work or where they were staying.

If someone was not infected or killed by a zombie then they were killed or injured by the panicking humans around them that were running around wildly or driving their cars into accidents.

The worst damage was done when cars started crashing into petrol stations and other volatile places that could cause a large explosion or fire but there were many cases of large transport vehicles like buses and trains suddenly being overrun with zombies which lead to a crash.

Brick turned on the television and switched over the channels but the same thing remained on each of them.

A pale and sweating man was calmly warning everyone about the threat that had appeared.

[Hello everyone, we bring you all this immediate broadcast to warn everyone about the spread of an unknown virus which has made people become aggressive and attack others. Those bitten or scratched will become infected so please stay at home, lock your doors and try to avoid anything that could possibly be contaminated. Keep an eye on anyone that has developed a fever and isolate or restrain them if possible. So.. wai wha argh!]

On the screen there appeared a pale figure behind him with a little skin hanging off its body.

It bit into the neck of the man who was making the report and then the broadcast was cut off.

The screen changed as the broadcast started up again on repeat which showed that the broadcast footage had been secured and proper measures had been put in place thanks to the sacrifices of the people at the broadcasting studio.

Brick turned it off and let out a sigh. "Of course there would be such a warning so early in this place since the main character is here. She needed plot armour to survive so long for her first life and she still needs lots for her to survive her second attempt."

In other cities, the warnings would have been much less believable because there was a lack of proof provided during the reports which made many take them as a joke or there may not have been a warning that had been provided in some places by television or radio.

Following his own thoughts about the current state of the world, Brick opened his laptop and opened a streaming service the original owner had kept bookmarked.

After browsing through some active channels, there were all kinds of different titles.

[Zombie locked in my basement live feed!]

[I was bitten, my story.]

[I have a fever, I think I might die!]

[I do not believe this nonsense so lets explore live!]

Brick clicked onto the last one which showed a young man who had yet to become twenty, the young man was smugly walking out of his home with a stick which held his phone to capture everything.

[I am leaving now everyone! I will show you all that there is nothing to worry about and all of this is just a prank which had just blown out of proportion.]

It did not take long until he walked around a corner and encountered a zombie which was very close to him.

[Hello good sir, would you mind telling my viewers who paid you to do this? The makeup is really good! Hey.. no touching. Stop no.. ow.. stop biting. Aaargh! Please stop aaaaaah! No there are more coming, stop no.]

The young man failed to take the warning seriously and formed his own conclusions which lead to him allowing the zombie to get close enough to hold onto him and then bite him.

Zombies were weaker and slower than humans because they movements became dull after they died and started deteriorating but they gained other things to help them have an advantage over humans.

When they were damaged or fatigued, they did not have the human survival instincts or experience pain so they continued to hold on or chase down their prey relentlessly until they lost them or they had been successful.

Their sight was slightly damaged but their sense of smell and hearing was enough for them to pick up the smell of humans which they hungered for.

The hunger they felt all the time along with the smell of the humans which was attractive to them only made them more relentless in their hunt for living flesh while they seemed to ignore other zombies unless they bumped into the other or were fighting over their meals.

The young man failed to listen to the warnings, he allowed himself to get close enough to be grabbed, bitten and scratched but worse of all, he did not lower his voice or stop himself from screaming which caused more nearby zombies to gather around and then attack him.

Brick looked at the comment section which had become active.

[LOL he bit him!]

[Wait doesn't something seem wrong? This is a little too much right?]

[Do not worry, they will probably just give him some fees later off screen for his medical fees.]

[I think you spoke too soon.. this….]

[WTF!]

[So realistic!]

[Hey this type of gore should not be allowed to be streamed on this service, I am reporting!]

[Guys.. I do not think this is a joke.]

[OMG!]

[Urk! They are tearing him apart, I cannot look anymore.]

[What has happened to the world?]

Brick typed into the comments before shutting it down. [If you want to survive then do not be like this idiot. Arm yourselves, aim for the head but if you cannot reach or do enough damage then take out the legs first. Do not let them grab you and restrain anyone showing signs of a fever. Do not drink any water from any sources that could be contaminated so stock up on bottled water and food that will have a long shelf life but if you cannot leave your home to find a nearby store to loot then I advise you to ration your food and drink. If you have to go outside to gather supplies then keep quiet and always be cautious about your surroundings.]

[Thanks bro!]

[Hahaha survival tips for newbies.]

[Where is my notebook and pen!? Ah who cares, print-screening this! It could be useful.]

Brick did not know how his comment would affect many that watched the stream but since they had already witnessed such a scene which changed their worldview, there were many that would have a slightly better chance at surviving in many parts of the world.

He made one anonymous post on a widely used public forum which contained some minor tips but they would only be useful for a while because the power and other services were not going to last a very long time.

As Brick shut down his laptop, a hurried knock came at his door.
