Battery Powered Devices

Brick sat opposite Tanya and explained. "I have cleared the floor below so it can be used by others for now but hopefully we can set up something for later to aid our escape on that floor."

Tanya nodded calmly. "You work fast but you could have asked others to help you. We are not so useless that you have to do everything on your own."

Brick showed a smile in response to her words and said. "It was easier to do those things alone since there are less chances of problems arising. You and the others have your own things to worry about for now."

Tanya questioned him. "How are you able to handle so many of them and come back fine?"

Tanya had some experience fighting the zombies from further away and had watched as others fell victim from the zombies so she could not understand how Brick could clear a whole floor within a short time of leaving.

Brick explained. "You will understand in time and I will try to teach you what you need to know in order to survive. Once you figure out their habits and characteristics, the easier it will be for you to be able to survive and to kill them. The first thing would be to overcome the fear you might have towards them or the hesitation to attack.

Many will be unable to separate those things from humans that they once were and will be unable to attack them. Sometimes their form may cause that hesitation.. for example, a child, an animal, a close friend or a loved one can be the things to make you hesitate the most.

Those that will be joining us to leave here need to gain some resistance to facing the living dead up close if they want to survive the journey out of here. I will try to arrange something if a safe environment can be made to allow everyone to gain experience."

Tanya knit her brows and asked. "You mean you want to bring one of those things in front of everyone? Are you sure that will be safe?"

Brick nodded. "I am sure it will be safe and there will only be one to deal with. They will be very controlled so long as I have dealt with their most dangerous aspects then people can practice facing them."

He continued to explain some things and tried to pass on some of his knowledge that could aid her survival before leaving the room and going back down to search the suitcases.

Tablets, laptops, phones and other electronics were found within which made his eyes light up as a more solid plan came to mind for the next day.

The rest of the day was spent exercising and making small trips between the two floors to put some things in place and to make the initial preparations for his plan.

Many suitcases were piled up on the stairs to block off the floor that many others were on and there were some blankets hanging from the above floors that were connected to each other.

It created a barrier to the floor everyone was on and some tables were placed in front of the stairs to help block the way along with the suitcases that were placed in front and behind to hold them in place.

One table was placed in front while another was positioned nearby so that it could be reached and lifted on top of the other to further increase the barrier.

After checking over everything, Brick played around with the devices and turned on the music then wrapped them up before hanging them in place outside on some of the balconies.

Once he reached the floor below the one he had cleared, Brick pushed the door open quietly and pressed a button on a mobile phone.

A piece of music was playing loudly and it attracted the zombies that were on the floor, they moved excitedly towards the opened door leading to the stairs.

Brick ran up the stairs to the floor he cleared and slid the phone into the hallway, the music continued to play but it was a lot quieted compared to the other noises coming from the other open rooms.

He then climbed over the table while slotting the other in place to block the way to the next stairs then pulled the hanging blankets closed before standing quietly.

The zombies pushed against the flipped over tables once they were met with an obstruction or were pushed into them by those that wanted to get to the noise.

"Kuaa."

"Urrr."

The zombies excitedly climbed the stairs and pushed forward until they entered the floor where the mobile had been placed then the tapping of their teeth could be heard, the cracking of the phone and the zombies going further away followed until there was several bangs and crashes.

If someone could view the scene from outside then they would witness the zombies falling from floor F from different rooms before they hit the ground.

Once the noise had died down and he had waited a little more, Brick pulled away the obstructions in his path and lifted the table on the top of the other out of the way. 'I have to test to see if this plan was even doable or not.. if it works then our escape should be possible tomorrow.'

The zombies were lead by the electronic devices that he found that worked without the need for a power supply and had their own battery, the music that was stored on them played a big part in attracting each of them towards each of the rooms and towards the balconies where they would fall off the edge.

The zombies or lower floors that would hear the noises and had the balcony open would follow the noise to do the same but it was not loud enough to attract more of them towards the hotel from outside.

While he had formed the idea with the knowledge he knew would work, it was best to test it first to prevent future failures when many lives depended on the success of it.

Once he confirmed that the floor was clear, Brick began collecting the hanging devices from the balconies and placed them back inside the rooms to be used again during the next day but they were all switched off to prevent their power from running out.

When he was done, Brick went to bed for the night after making another trip upstairs to check over how the group was doing.

Brick stared at the ceiling and raised his hand as his arm stretched out but nothing seemed to happen.

A gloomy look appeared on his face. "Just sleep… maybe tomorrow."
