Final Group

Brick did not know of the changes happening within the hotel and he did not have much time available to think about such things.

His full attention was put towards making the trip back and forth from the hotel to take the survivors to safety.

Small groups moved along with him each time as their cooperation and efforts had differed greatly.

Brick had his hands full with some groups since he was having to slow the group down in order to deal with a wandering zombie that had startled someone within the group.

It had been lucky that most of them barely made any noise or enough that would attract more zombies in the area to their location otherwise many lives could have been put in danger.

A series of events took place as he left the parking area across the road and made his way back into the hotel grounds floor as he began to escort a small group.

The small group followed closely and if anyone fell behind, the group had to slow down and return for them together.

If a zombie got too close for comfort then Brick would sneak up behind it while it was distracted and silently push his knife into the back of its head.

He was getting much better at how he was handling a knife in his hands and was getting far more precise as he used one move to silently kill them.

The use of his barriers was becoming increasingly familiar with each time he had made use of it.

It was especially easier to insert his knife into the body of a zombie when there was a barrier on the other side of its body so that there was something to have it pushed against so it did not move around or sway away resulting in the knife missing its mark before it penetrated deeply enough.

Having the body pinned between the force of the knife pushing into it and the barrier, it stayed in place a little more allowing him to silently lower the body to the ground making the least amount if noise possible.

If the zombies put up some kind of dying struggle or did not die right away then there was always the chance of them making enough noise to alert others of their kind so it was all the more reason for Brick to not make any mistakes.

He could not swing around an axe with wide swings since it was much too eye catching so the use of a knife with smaller movements was best suited to his present situation.

Brick moved back and forth as he visited other floors of the parking lot and started to clear away any stray zombies lurking around before getting them to one of the cars he had the keys to.

As he ventured upward, he found that he was finding far less cars that belonged to the sets of keys so he had to venture even further up to check for a car for them to use.

Brick moved back towards the hotel once again and came along with three more people who were the final ones who would be joining or going their own way.

Just as he was about to step outside leading the zombies and those he was bringing along with him, a loud crash was heard at the front of the hotel.

It happened not too far away from the front of the hotel either on the pavement or on the road.

It did not stop with the one crashing noise as another followed not long after.

The sounds of shattering glass and hard objects hitting the ground or anything out the front was not a good sign.

Brick knit his brows in annoyance as he coldly gazed behind him. "We need to move without any mistakes. This just got much harder so try not to slow others down."

The others nodded in response and had a look of dread on their faces but they quietly followed behind.

Brick was the first to step outside as he began walking out of the main entrance into the street but he did not have long before his vigilance would be raised.

The crashing had continued in different locations along the front of the hotel so Brick had some idea of what was going on.

He raised his guard even more once he stepped out and he looked upward the moment he stepped out.

It had been very lucky that he was being careful at such a time since he was would have been in great danger.

Something came crashing downward towards the top of his head but his hand raised upward as a small barrier formed.

The object hit the barrier with a large amount of power from the fall so it had weakened it a lot causing some strain on Brick who had still yet to achieve the first stage of evolution.

The barrier quickly weakened and seemed to be ready to break apart from the strong impact unable to hold the object in place but it was more than enough to let Brick slow it down long enough to move himself away before it bounced off the barrier towards one direction or broke past it.

He narrowly avoided the object which was a heavy square television that would usually be a part of one of the hotel rooms.

If it had hit him after falling then it would have been very dangerous for him even if he got away with some minor injuries since it would let the zombies pick up on his presence.

Brick silently cursed those who were behind it as he kept a close watch on the movements above while waving for others to come out.

He had his hand on the gun he had yet to use as he hesitated to use it but decided against it.

It was much too dangerous to get swept up in his emotions when his and others lives were at stake.

A single gunshot in such a busy area would be the worst possible thing to do so he loosened his grip on it while glaring upward.

Another object came flying down almost hitting someone but Brick was able to pull them out of the way as a barrier was raised.

Just as they were about to scream in fright, he quickly silenced them and slowly dragged them back towards the parking lot.

For the first time in his life, Brick felt the urge to kill another human as he thought to himself. 'Let's cross paths again.. if we do then you are so dead.'

The zombies had become increasingly more dangerous and had returned to the streets after being nearby close enough to head the noises created at the front of the hotel so it had created a little more danger for the final group.
