Meanwhile, while Skye and Karina were talking, Sheila followed after Veron. Nothing bothered her more at that moment than the fact that her actions may have made Veron angry with her. And that was the last thing she needed.
She only did what she did because she wanted to spite Karina. Also, she truly thought that was the only way for the latter to get her hands on anything that belonged to Veron.
Sighting him a distance away leaning against his car, Sheila swallowed hard, drew in a deep breath, and released it before she slowly approached him.
"Hey, Veron." She called out, seeing he had his eyes closed. She swallowed again, and wondered why she was feeling so jittery in his presence. It was both disturbing and thrilling at the same time.
Never had she felt this way in the presence of anyone in the past, and it wasn't just because Veron was rich. She had been in the presence of rich people and still had her confidence intact.
There was just something different about this person she was standing before. Something mysterious and daunting, which she wanted to unravel and become a part of at all costs.
Veron's eyes snapped open when he heard her voice. He already sensed her presence when she was approaching him but paid no attention to her until she spoke.
Lifting a brow, he silently asked her why she was disturbing his peace and his thought process. Right now, he would rather engage with his mind than with her.
"I… Uhm, I'm sorry for what happened in there. I didn't mean to drag your name into it or make it escalate this way. I was just looking out for you." Sheila stated her reason for following him, understanding the silent gesture he made.
"If you were looking out for me, you would have confirmed from me before going ahead of yourself to accuse an innocent person of stealing," Veron said in an unbothered tone, not moving from his spot.
"I know. I've learned my lesson. It won't happen again." Sheila nodded her head solemnly.
"You should compensate her for defamation," Veron added, making Sheila lift her head to look at him with widened eyes portraying shock.
"What? You don't think she deserves it?" He asked, forcing her to snap out of her shock.
"No. I mean, it's just a small misunderstanding. I don't think it's as serious as that. Moreover, I won't call her a thief again so it is settled."
"It is?" Veron probed.
"It is." Sheila nodded.
"But…" She added just a second later, pulling her brows together. "Why did you give her your Jacket? Did she beg you for it?"
Veron's brows pulled up again, this time more prominently due to the surprise her question triggered.
"I don't mean to pry, just that it is so unlike you, which makes it all the more confusing," Sheila added, sensing that her question may not be taken well.
"Keep your nose out of my business, Sheila. What I chose to do with anything that belongs to me should not concern, confuse or surprise you. Understood?"
"I understand. I'm sorry for prying." Another apology fell from Sheila's lips. She lowered her eyes but didn't make any effort to leave.
'What now?' Veron asked in his head, seeing how she was still standing there like she still had something to say.
And as if she heard his internal query, she lifted her head again fixing her eyes on his.
"Oh no." Gerrard's voice echoed in Veron's head.
"What?" Veron asked his wolf, confused as to why he sounded like that.
"I think she's gonna do it. She's gonna confess her feelings to you." Gerrard answered.
"Uhm… Will you be free tomorrow? I'd like us to have dinner together." Sheila finally said after some time of contemplating.
"Aand she did it," Gerrard announced, chuckling lightly.
Veron, who wasn't in the least surprised by her request, just stared at her for a while before saying, "No. I will be busy tomorrow."
"When will you be free?" Sheila asked, trying not to show her disappointment.
"Okay, now she's really asking for it. You should grant her request." Gerrard commented again, at the same time Veron ran his tongue over his hidden fangs. His eyes veered down from her eyes to her neck, as he concentrated on the sound of her blood rushing through her veins.
Sheila blushed, seeing how his eyes were moving around her body. Taking that as a good sign, her hope soared. Very soon, she would be known as Veron's woman. That would be an honor and a great achievement, one she couldn't wait to happen. Also, that would kill the ambition of every other lady eyeing that position.
"It's been long you had human blood, anyway." Gerrard continued with his comments.
"I had human blood two days ago." Veron reminded Gerrard, rolling his eyes internally.
"That one's useless. If he hadn't hurt my mate, I wouldn't have wanted even a taste of his blood. This one here is beautiful and delectable. Her blood will be satisfying."
"You now consider other women beautiful and delectable?" Veron probed, genuinely surprised.
"Because of her blood," Gerrard stressed.
"You don't want a taste of Karina's blood?" Veron asked, and Gerrard froze.
"If she as much as gets even a scratch on her body because of you, I'll kill you." Gerrard threatened, but Veron chuckled.
"Veron?" Sheila's voice snapped him back to the physical realm. That was when he realized he had gotten carried away by Gerrard's words, while his eyes were still on her neck.
"Tuesday." He gave an answer to her question of when he will be free. Sheila nodded.
"Tuesday it is then. I'll call you." She flashed him a smile that showed she was satisfied with the outcome of their meeting, and started heading back to the class.
'You want a piece of Veron? You will get a piece of Veron, my dear. I hope you are strong enough to survive it?' Veron asked in his head as he watched her walk away. Once she was out of sight, he wondered what was keeping Skye inside up till now.
