"How can you say he's fine? This is the ninth floor. Nobody can survive a fall from this height." Karina argued and Skye let out a soft sigh.
"That's right. But there is a safety net mounted on the fifth floor to stop anyone from dying should an accident as this occur." He lied to stop her from panicking further. She was human and there was no way he was going to explain to her that Lincoln was a vampire, who wouldn't die even if he fell from a height higher than that.
Karina calmed down significantly after that explanation. It didn't take long for her heart to race again when Veron turned to look at her. He wasn't frowning, but his gaze was scary.
"Prepare the car. We're leaving." Veron instructed, and Skye gave a curt nod before walking away, leaving them alone.
Karina lowered her gaze to avoid seeing that scary look he had in his eyes.
"Does it hurt?" Veron asked.
"Huh?" Karina lifted her eyes as confusion registered on her face.
