Chapter 18: The Broken Plan

NATHANIEL'S APARTMENT

POV DESMOND

I don't remember passing out. The last thing I could remember was Nathaniel looking at me with worry in his eyes. I heard voices now. They were speaking in a hushed and frantic tone.

"Look, he's waking up," I heard Samuel say. My eyes felt heavy, but I forced them open. Nathaniel was still sitting on the bed next to me. Samuel and Dean were standing together at the end of the bed.

I hesitated to push myself into a sitting position. I put my hands on the bed and pushed up slowly. My body felt stiff, but the stabbing pain was gone. I reached up and felt my nose. The blood had been wiped away and it wasn't broken anymore.

I looked at Nathaniel, questions buzzing around my mind.

"We'll leave you two alone," Samuel said, dragging Dean out with him.

Nathaniel waited for the door to shut before turning to speak. "I know you have a lot of questions right now," he started. I nodded and waited for him to continue.
