''Detective Sandas, why don't you hand yourself in? it will safe us a lot of trouble.'' Detective Gid said after snatching the phone from Suleiman.
''Detective Gid, fancy hearing from you.'' Avery said as she stood up from the couch.
''Let me warn you. Don't do anything stupid, Avery. I know that Prosecutor Oak is protecting you but you should know this. The police department is different from the Prosecution department. He has no power in here. It will be in your best interest to come out before I catch you.'' Detective Gid scoffed.
'That is quite rich and interesting coming from someone who once claimed to be righteous. What happened? Did the money they offer you entice you to drop all sense of morality?'' Avery chuckled.
''Stop talking nonsense.'' Detective Gid's face was quite reddened from anger.
''You know best whether what I am saying is nonsense or not. Detective Gid, tell this to the Prime Minister and the commissioner. Since they are pushing me to the wall, they can't blame me for whatever happens next.''
''What do you mean?''
''Since they want the whole world to see me as a criminal, then they shouldn't blame me for putting their business out in the world too. I am a simple person. I don't do things that don't benefit me and even if it does benefit me, I will always have evidence to protect myself with.''
''Cut the crap and tell me what are you planning? Avery, you know what the Prime Minister wants. Why don't you just give it to him and return to your post? You are just going to put yourself and the people you love in danger.''
''I don't have a family don't tell me you've forgotten so soon. Detective Gid must be seeing red right now. Are you that desperate to catch me?''
''Let's see if you will continue to be this brave once I catch you.''
''Enough of the talking. Why don't you start acting? I'm done talking to you. I will clear my name and report to work for the disciplinary meeting on Tuesday. If you want to talk, let's do it then.'' Avery said and hung up the call. She threw the phone on the couch and sat down.
At the police station…
''Hello, hello… hey, Avery!'' Detective Gid yelled into the phone and Suleiman snatched it from him.
''Don't you know it's rude to snatch someone's phone while they are talking?'' Suleiman said.
''You know where Avery is, right? Take me there!'' Detective Gid said.
Suleiman looked at him and let out a sarcastic chuckle. ''Detective Gid, do you really think I will take you to where senior is even if I knew? I don't receive orders from you.'' Suleiman said and went inside.
Detective Gid cussed and hit his fist against the pillar. He turned and looked towards the Prosecutors' department and saw Kai hurrying down the pavement stairs and he immediately followed.
Detective Gid got into his car and followed Kai as the latter drove out of the parking area.
After seeing the news, Kai came out of the office and got into his car. He stopped by the grocery store first to get some groceries for Avery. There was nothing in the villa because he barely lived there. Now that she was going to stay there for a while and couldn't come out, he had to get some groceries and other toiletries for her.
Kai came out of the grocery store holding three bags of groceries and toiletries. He opened the backseat of the Jeep and placed the bags inside before getting into the car.
''Why did he buy a lot of things? He stays alone…. unless he really is hiding Avery…'' Detective Gid muttered and chuckled. He started his car and followed Kai slowly.
Kai pulled over in front of the gym and went in using the key Avery gave him. When he entered, Fiona was sitting on the bed confused. When she saw him, she stood up and sigh a relief.
''Prosecutor Oak, where is Avery? Is she with you?'' Fiona asked even though she knew he couldn't see her.
''Where are her clothes? This one?'' Kai asked and Fiona nodded her head.
''Yes, those are Avery's clothes.'' Fiona said.
Kai packed the things in the blue luggage bag. He just put them in, in no particular order because they included her innerwear.
'This should be enough. If she needs anything, we can just buy it.''
''Avery is at your place? I was so worried when I saw the news. In that case, I should add the blue drives I stored most of the information in and lock this place so that no one can come in.'' Fiona turned and walked past Kai and he shivered.
Kai froze and muttered. ''What was that?''
He shook his head. ''I should see if there is anything important in the bathroom first.'' Kai said and went into the bathroom.
Fiona came out of the secret room and dumbed all the things she picked into the bag. she turned and saw Kai coming out of the bathroom.
''Oh… what are those?'' He muttered.
''These are important. Don't throw them away.'' Fiona said excitedly.
''Did I put these here?'' Kai suddenly felt eerie. He wanted to take the things out but he felt a strong energy holding the things.
Kai took his hands off and closed the bag and Fiona smiled.
''That's more like it.'' Fiona muttered.
Kai closed the bag and left the room and Fiona followed him. When they came out of the gym, Kai locked the door and turned to go. Fiona got inside the car and looked at Kai as he started the car.
''Avery, you said all that just to turn around and begin to live with him? I really underestimated you.'' Fiona chuckled.
''But… Prosecutor Oak isn't bad. He is a good catch. He is handsome and has a good job. Overall, he is also pretty decent. I just hope that when you find out who he is, it won't stop you from being with him.'' Fiona sighed and pouted her lips. She looked through the side mirror and saw Detective Gid's car.
''Prosecutor Oak, we are being followed…'' Fiona turned and said to Kai. She sighed and mumbled. ''He can't even hear me.''
As if he could hear her, Kai looked at his side mirror and saw Detective Gid and chuckled. ''He even followed me to this place? Okay, let's play if you want us to play…''
Fiona looked at Kai and smiled. ''I knew it. You are a smart one.'' Fiona leaned on the seat and chuckled.
Kai drove the car out of the place and turned towards his apartment at the Xingron street.
…..
Kai walked out of the elevator holding a large plastic bag that contained all the groceries that he bought earlier on and the luggage bag. He had changed into a pair of black jeans and hoodie with a cap on his head.
Kai walked to the parking area and tied the things at the back of the chopper bike before climbing over it.
''Oh… we are using this chopper bike? Whoa… I haven't ridden such a bike before. Way to go, Prosecutor Oak. I didn't know you had this side to you.'' Fiona said and climbed behind Kai. She wrapped her arms around him and put her head on his broad back and smiled.
''He smells so good. It's a pity I can't seduce him.'' Fiona smiled.
Kai rode the bike out of the parking area. He rode past Detective Gid whom was sitting inside his car. Kai smirked and shook his head.
Fiona stood up as Kai rode the bike. She seemed to be in a good mood. She yelled at the top of her voice excitedly.
….
Avery stood outside the door of the villa and looked at the lone road in front of her. The villa was probably the only house in that area.
Avery ran out towards the gate when she heard the sound of the chopper bike. She opened the door and saw Kai getting down from the bike.
''Oh… this…'' Avery looked at him and chuckled.
''Someone was following me. I had to disguise this way.'' Kai said and Fiona stepped from behind him, surprising Avery.
''Tadaa…'' Fiona said.
''Oh, how did you get here?'' Avery absentmindedly asked Fiona.
''I came with him. Aye, I was worried about you but it seems you are safe and sound.'' Fiona said and Avery chuckled.
Kai turned and looked at her and asked. ''Who are you talking to?''
''Huh? Nobody…'' Avery pointed at the luggage and asked. ''Are those mine?''
''Yes, I picked a few things from your place. Whatever you need, we can buy them later on. These are groceries. Take the bag first.'' Kai said.
''Oh…'' Avery took the luggage and opened the gate for Kai to send the bike inside.
''Whoa! This house is beautiful. A glass house. Avery, why do I feel that you are so lucky?'' Fiona asked as they entered the hall.
''I didn't want to be here.'' Avery muttered.
