Carl: Okay. It'll be exciting to take it off. My cheeks heated a thousand degrees from the excitement.

In Carl's bathroom, I changed into my black string bikini and coiled my hair into a high bun on my head. He'd changed into his trunks in his bedroom and then gone to grab us drinks, ordering me to meet him poolside when I was ready.

It was almost midnight, yet it was still scorching outdoors. The heat was oppressive, and the bugs in the woods beyond the fence were deafening, buzzing in ebb and flow cycles. The external lights on the house's side were turned off, yet gentle, yellowish light flowed down on the pool from the big windows above. The underwater light illuminated the deep end of the kidney-shaped pool.
