There was a girl, and we'll call her Anita. My mother's strong connection with Anita ended when she became pregnant by a Vamp Lord. She had to be put to death since she violated a holy rule.

But Anita devised a cunning plan for getting away. She managed to get away from the coven, and she and her baby ended up spending the next several months in a hidden location. My mom and the other witches were still on the lookout for her since she needed to appear at the judgement.

One day, though, she would be discovered. Anita, however, was not going to give up without a struggle, and she attempted to flee with the infant. My mother pursued her, and they eventually caught up in the woods, but Anita was too strong, and my mother paid the ultimate price. "Darcy paused for a moment as she sought to alleviate the discomfort.
