Oh... she could almost feel the chill in the air as she bowed her head and acknowledged the King supporting her. Slowly, she raised her head to peer at him, and flashes of the previous night's events flooded back into her mind. Everything about our time together—our chats, hugs, and cuddles—felt special.
Furthermore, remembering how helpless the King's wolf had felt in her grasp, with its red flashing eyes that dissolved at some spots....
When the King finished his book and got up, Ella averted her eyes from him because she just couldn't shake the mental pictures. Even so, Ella could see that he had turned to face her and was standing with his arms crossed behind him.
"Ella," he yelled in his usual deep, commanding voice. "How are you doing?"
Spenser nodded and moved away from the window, dropping the book he had been reading. "I need to eat, Ella," the words from his lips as he backed her up.
