Dax awoke later in his own bed. As he awoke, he felt the warm touch of someone holding his hand. He turned to look and saw his mother looking at him.
"Welcome back!" Helen said with a massive smile and tears in the corner of her eyes. "I thought I was going to lose you there for a while."
"What happened?" Dax asked. "I just got so sleepy. I must have passed out. Did the nanites work?"
"About that…" Helen said. "I think it's best if you just rest up."
"Did something happen?" Dax asked. "Was I affected by one of those side effects they were warning us about?!"
"No, nothing like that." Helen said. "But sadly, they didn't stick."
"So, I am still a zero percent." Dax said with a sigh. "Do they want to try it again? Maybe they can make a stronger nanite or something."
"No." Helen said. "I am afraid that might be a little too dangerous…"
"Did I blow up the inside of the room again?" Dax asked.
"Something like that." Helen said.
