Rex's group arrived where the Labyrinth was. Instead of seeing anything there, all they saw was a deathly scene.
"We need several sticks about the same size. Then, as many small sticks as we can find." Rex said.
"On it, sir." The Night Shift Battalion answered.
Only their commander was left by Rex's side.
"What are we doing to do?" Amber asked.
"The first hurdle into the Labyrinth of Unholy." Rex answered in a monotone voice.
Amber and the commander both felt that this was off about Rex.
"I hope that the steps are the same." Rex thought.
He began to climb down. Amber and the commander both watched Rex closely.
"When the group arrives with the sticks. I need all the small sticks first." Rex answered.
"Copy." The commander replied.
One of the men returned with a small handful of small sticks. Rex used his Nature Qi to make a plant to bring the sticks to him.
"Where each small stick is, this is where you need to step." Rex said.
Rex used his Nature Qi to find where a flower could live. He used his Water Qi to gently place each small stick.
Once the handful was gone. Another man came up, and Rex did the same thing again until he felt where a large area was with his Nature Qi.
Something felt off. He again used his Nature Qi to make sure that everything was right. He found several spots that he first did not find.
Once some more small sticks were placed. He used his Water Qi to step where the sticks were. He arrived at the area.
"Such depressing matters to use on the first trip." Rex said.
No one else heard him. They saw him sit down on the ground.
He gently used his Nature Qi to walk each one down to where they would have to step where the sticks were.
Amber was the first to go. She nearly fell over if not for Rex using Nature Qi where she was to hold her. Once she regained her stability, she finished without fail.
The commander was next. Using everything at his disposal, he nearly slipped thrice. He destroyed one of Rex's Water Steps. Finally, he made it over and was quite exhausted.
"That is damn too much on a singular person." The commander cursed.
The ground seemed to be pleased, and the area around them changed.
"I am sorry. Please go back to where you were." The commander pleaded.
The ground shifted back to its stepping places. This information was new to Rex.
He had heard stories of the ground actually hearing curses but never took it to heart because it was easy to make it across.
The rest of the battalion took their time in getting across. Now, it was nearly noon. The group did not have much time inside the Labyrinth.
"There is something that I am going to check out. First off, I am sending each of you to the First Floor in this Labyrinth. I do not know what lies ahead, but I will be there shortly." Rex said.
The group nodded.
A spider web with the sticks was made. The small sticks formed the center and across edges. The bigger sticks were used to form the length of the spider web.
"Okay. Each of you hold on to each other and step until the middle of the web." Rex said.
The group did just that and once each one had a foot inside. They disappeared from Rex's view.
"I hope that the Firemane mustangs are still able to be tamed even on the outside." Rex said.
He formed a more detailed spider web. He used his finger to touch the middle of the web. He disappeared into the Labyrinth.
'200th Floor of the Temple of Unholy'
Rex saw as he entered through a set of burnt metallic doors.
Upon entry, Rex was immediately introduced to fifty six-headed hydras sleeping.
He just so happened to hear a 'Ding' at this time.
He opened his system to see a Quest to retrieve the Monster Tamer Medallion from the floor without waking any of the hydras up.
Rex blinked twice and looked across the floor. He had not officially stepped past the doors yet. So he was still within retreat perimeters.
Rex asked, "System, can I use any Qi to find any openings?"
He got another 'Ding' in response.
"Only if you completely enter the room."
Rex was upset at such a high number of hydras. Now, he could not just slip past and grab the Medallion.
He closed the doors gently behind him. He had not passed the entryway. So he could still retreat by not passing through.
This was a safe area on every floor. It could be used to cultivate or fix a long-awaited meal.
Rex made sure not to get anywhere close to the closest head. Once he had, he slightly used his Nature Qi on the walls. He found that this floor was much bigger than the Labyrinth of Unholy's last floor.
Where the Labyrinth could only hold at max three five-headed hydras. In the Temple of Unholy, this floor could easily hold four hundred hydras and still have room to wiggle around.
Also, in the middle of the ceiling were several man-eating plants. They would release sleeping gas to help the hydras out. Both parties would get a delightful meal.
Rex cultivated only using his Nature Qi. He made the man-eating plants continue to release the sleeping gas.
Being inside the safe area, Rex hoped that he would not be affected by the gas. After thirty minutes of just releasing the gas.
Rex stopped the cultivation. He used his Water Qi to gently glide over the hydras.
Finally, he found what he was looking for at the end of the floor.
He picked up the Medallion and a door opened up from beside where the normal exit was.
A dark and dreary room was present. Rex slowly descended into the room.
