Chapter 921 Mission underway

After a couple of hours, Rex was handed talismans that were directly linked to the seal. To allow him to test one, he was teleported just outside the city where they had been.

Rex used one of the talismans. A ripple affect began to happen across his body until he materialized right in front of the Shadow Person.

"How was it?" The Shadow Person asked.

"Very upsetting." Rex told him.

He went to explain how he felt using the talisman and how it actually affected him during the teleport.

"Seems like it work fine. Perhaps even better than I expected." The Shadow Person spoke.

The Shadow Person explained just a little of their biology. The moment two minutes had past. Rex could no longer accept hearing anymore of them.

"That was way too much information." Rex thought with his mind hurting.

"I believe you saw it as a skeleton with a black cover, correct?" The Shadow Person asked.

Rex took a moment to rethink. He nodded in agreement.

"Alright so in simple terms, you took off the clothes and skin of an individual to reveal the muscle and bones. Where our muscle is also store within the bones and black covering. Our bones are not only past people who have been accepted into the fold but they are also our life force."

The Shadow Person pulled his black covering back. Rex saw the slight redness inside his bones that looked like muscle.

"Since bones are fragile for us. Once we have birthed a child into the fold. This is how the bones look like. Our covering is not with us at birth but is given to us by either the King, Queen, or a High Ranking Official in the area.

As for me, it was different in that I had to earn my covering. Royals and High Ranking Officials have to not only kill selected members of society who are not behaving properly but also a few outside, like here in the Realms."

Rex understood the hierarchy. He was still wondering why the death of individuals had to happen.

"What makes you different from the others?" Rex asked.

The Shadow Person smiled at Rex.

"I never killed an innocent person. All the ones I killed, I made sure was either already dying and I helped them finish their life or death row prisoners."

Rex felt that this Shadow Person could have been lying but his gut instinct told him that this was the truth.

"Alright it is time. Preparing to send to the closest prisoner who can be freed. Remember, do not engage in combat. Use your other abilities to the uttermost. Even is a few die in the process, it is fine. Make sure that it is not direct combat. That will sound more alarms than I care to explain."

Rex knew that this was the truth. The next second, he found himself inside a palace. He carefully looked outside. He saw the Shadow People walking around carefree.

He used his assassin skills to carefully avoid most patrols. He did have to have to kill two without showing himself before arriving at what looked like the Palace Dungeon.

He saw four guards walking his way. He knew that if they saw the other guards dead too much would draw attention.

He waited until they walked passed and he had gotten two special light talismans that dissolved their bodies from the inside out. The prisoners inside unaffected by the talisman. Rex approached one of two dungeons with prisoners.

"Is your husband or father inside a seal elsewhere?" Rex was unsure of how to speak. He knew that if the answer was no. He would kill the prisoners.

"Yes." A feminine voice replied.

"All or you?" Rex asked.

"We are his wives." The same one replied.

Rex broke the chains holding them back. He handed each of the women a talisman. He asked the one for directions to the daughters.

"This way." She led him.

Once the children were out, they complained about their youngest sibling being forced to marry the martyr. This truly upset the woman but currently there was nothing that could happen.

Rex could see the genuine worry across the bodies. He decided to actually try to rescue her. It would be dangerous but possibly doable with the Royal Knights.

"Where are the weapons of the Royal Knights?" Rex asked.

He decided to change tactics. He would cause ruckus at certain points and force everyone to try and find him.

"The armory is located two levels above the normal level. The throne room would be on the left staircase while the armory is the rightside and goes directly above the throne room." The last of the women currently left.

"He will hate me for this. However, it will be worth it." Rex thought.

He darted to the point where the first people were killed and vanished into the shadows passing by seeing an eerie glow of red in their eyes.

He did not look directly at them but made sure that the skulls did not twist his way. Once he was in the clear. He felt other guards coming down.

"Damn guards." Rex thought.

Once they passed his location. He killed them by forcing their heads together and it killed them.

Rex vanished into the shadows again. He had to make sure that he got to the armory without being seen. That became much harder has thirty guards now patrolled the area he was in.

"Find whoever is killing us." Several higher ranking guards spoke.

"Great just great." Rex once again thought.

He did not know why they were so furious currently. He might have used the light talisman in front of the women but the red eyes caught the sight of the women leaving.
