Take It And Leave

"Huh…" A heavy sigh could be heard in the car. Marissa didn't know what would happen to her right now. Earlier, her mind decided to run but her legs knew she could never beat those two men. So she ended up here in the car, and didn't know where they were heading.

The car stopped and her eyes were now wandering outside the window. The big villa that was served in front of her eyes amazed her. Who was this Madam Ruby?

"Miss…" The man opened the door.

Blinking hard, she got her left foot out but suddenly raised her eyes looking at the man who was waiting for her. "I could only give one of my kidneys."

"Sorry?" The man was shocked and puzzled. He didn't get the reason for her words.

Marissa slowly pulled back the leg, "My dad, did he tell you guys to find me?"

"Miss…I think you misunderst-"

The man tried to explain when a tap reached his back, "Oh Madam…" He quickly bowed and stepped back.

Marissa quickly took a look when she heard the man. Her eyes opened hastily when she saw the 'Madam' they were talking about. It was Blake's grandmother. Rushing out from the car, she quickly greeted her. 'So, Madam Ruby is her?'

Ruby nodded but there was no expression on her face. "I never thought I needed to come out to make you come out." She said and it clearly sounded sarcastic.

"Ah…I apologise grand-" she stopped as she thought it was not proper for her to call Ruby as a grandma. "I'm sorry Madam." Standing properly, she gave a slight bow as an apology.

Ruby gave her a short glance before turning heading in.

Marissa was still confused but quickly caught up to her after that.

The interior of the house sparkled in her eyes. Marissa's eyes couldn't stop looking at how lavish and beautiful the design in the house was. Seeing how the villa was, she could grasp a little bit how rich Blake was. Yes, for sure he was not someone ordinary.

She was brought to a room that was covered with black and gold interior. The room looked so sophisticated that her mouth slightly opened in amazement.

"Sit…" Ruby looked straight at Marissa who was stiff looking mesmerised.

"Oh…" Marissa frantically pulled the chair.

Ruby was still with her sharp stare. Looking straight in Marissa's eyes. "So, I was told by Blake, both of you are planning to get married." She started the conversation.

"Married?" Marissa's eyes blink profusely while her head worked hard to understand Ruby's words just now. A few seconds later, she nodded. "Ah yes…" She thought, perhaps Blake already told his grandmother about the marriage. 'I guess everything is going the way he plans.'

Ruby nodded. She looked down on her left and pulled a drawer. Holding onto an envelope, she put it in front of Marissa. "For you, tell me if it is not enough. I will add more."

'What is this? Don't tell me…' Marissa's brain couldn't digest everything. She took the envelope and opened it. It shocked her so much when she pulled out the paper. She covered her mouth counting the amount of zero on a check.

"Not enough?" Ruby asked, crossing her arms.

Quickly denying, Marissa asked, "I don't understand. What is this for?"

"I don't know if you are slow or you are pretending to be one." Ruby sneered. "That is the amount for you to leave Blake."

'Am I in some kind of drama?' Marissa laughed unexpectedly. She felt like her life at that moment had been dramatised. What was actually happening?

"Do you think I am joking right now?" Ruby's expression didn't look good when Marissa laughed. She was trying to read the girl in front of her but she couldn't.

Marissa waved her hand while shaking her head. Stopping the laughter instantly, she took a deep breath before she said, "I didn't mean to be rude, but Madam…I really didn't understand what you mean…"

She understood. She totally understood but right now, she was holding everything inside. She couldn't be rude even though she felt so pissed at that time. Blake's grandmother was trying to make her leave him by offering money, how could she not understand that?

"I know you need money, take it." Ruby suddenly took another thing from the drawer. This time it was a chequebook. "Tell me if you need more." She grabbed a pen next.

"And I need to leave Blake if I take this…" Marissa raised the check. Her respect for her vanished right away and the smile on her face was not there anymore.

"Yes, good. You finally understand." Ruby smiled but the smile looked like she was mocking Marissa.

Marissa stood up immediately. She headed to the door without wanting to waste any more time there.

"Why? Is the amount too small?" Ruby asked. She looked at Marissa who stopped her steps in front of the door. "Well, your dad took it right away."

Shock, Marissa turned. "Dad?"

"I guess I was wrong about you." Ruby leaned to her chair and smiled.

"Did you offer him the same amount?" Marissa was on the edge of bursting out. She was so mad.

"Half…" Ruby casually answered. She didn't find anything wrong with that.

"I will not take the money and Madam…for your information. I don't have someone called I dad anymore." Marissa opened the door.

"I guess you are smarter than I thought." Ruby's words made Marissa's move halted.

Marissa's lips shook in anger but she didn't turn.

"You know if you get married to Blake you will get more than this right…" Ruby continued. She deliberately wanted to increase Marissa's anger.

"Madam…I came here not of my own free will and I will go on my own." She slammed the door closed and stood still in front of the room for a few seconds.

Marissa breathed hard. Her heart suddenly felt the pain. Her chest really hurt that she clenched onto her blouse hard. Was it because of the pride that she thought she already abandoned?

Ruby turned looking at the door behind her being opened.

"Do you have to go that far?"
