Half A Year

One month had passed, but Marissa remained unconscious. The doctor had explained that this was due to the fact that the blow had hit the same spot on her head as before. Blake had exhausted all his resources, seeking out the top doctors in the field, but Marissa's condition had shown no signs of improvement.

"Can I bring her home?" Blake asked the doctor.

"I can't recommend that unless you have everything set up at home," the doctor replied.

Blake nodded resolutely, determined to do whatever it took to care for Marissa. He spent the next few days preparing their home for her arrival, setting up a comfortable bed in their bedroom, installing medical equipment, and arranging for a nurse to be with Marissa at all times.
