Playing With My Heart

"It might sting…" Blake said as he gently applied the ointment to Marissa's foot. "I'm sorry…I thought I cleaned up all the broken pieces last night."

"No, it's okay. It's not like it's your fault," Marissa said while frowning, holding onto the pain in her foot.

But then after a few more seconds, Marissa once again froze, recalling something that happened last night.

Noticing her behaviour, Blake stopped his movement, "Why? Did it hurt so much?"

"No…" Marissa shook her head, and her cheeks suddenly turned a deep shade of red. "Did I…" her words dawdled as she hesitated to continue.

"Did you?" Blake asked, hoping she would finish her question.

"I'm sorry for coming uninvited. I guess I should cut down on drinking…" She chuckled while looking down, her tone sounding somewhat sad.

"You should, or you might definitely end up coming back to the past…" Blake smiled, trying to tease her.
