Family Dinner- 2

ELENA

The air was thick with tension, and every word that was exchanged between the mother and the son cut it only to make a mess out of it. I could control Devon, I was sure about it, but what I could do about Madison Sanders?

"I asked because clearly, you could have done better with the renovations and designs. I don't think it's up to your taste." She commented blatantly, shifting her gaze to me.

Devon was about to open his mouth, but I didn't allow him.

"You are right, MOM!" I stressed the word mom only to get the expected reaction. Keeping a polite smile on my face, I continued.

"We could have done better, but that would have also needed more money. And as we both are salaried employees, we need to check on our expenses given the wedding was also financially planned entirely by us.

And about Devon's taste... this is not what suited his taste. A small cosy home on a hill is what he would prefer over a luxurious mansion in the middle of the city."
