The air inside the large conference room was thick with tension, and the curious gazes recked me up and down, pushing me to the zone of discomfort. I wasn't afraid of the crowd or how powerful it could be.
These businessmen were similar to the ones I had already dealt with.
But this time, it was not my game, there were not my rules, nor I knew theirs. I was only a spectator who was supposed to be there beside her husband and support him.
I took a moment to sweep my gaze over the long table. One thing that struck me strangely was the seating arrangements.
At the head of the table sat my father-in-law, and to his immediate right sat my mother-in-law. While to his left sat aunt Julianne.
Mason sat right beside Madison Sanders, and then the rest of the board members sat according to whatever pattern they followed.
And my husband... he sat at the very end of the table in the farthest corner where his frame and aura both shadowed even under the bright lights in the room.
