Settling Debt

The next day...

Wenmin woke up and started to do his morning routine. Made breakfast for him and Heihei, took a shower, do the laundry and then went to his garden. He was humming while crouching on the ground. Checking every plant there is in the garden. With the help of the spring water from the space, his plants grew healthily and their colours look so vibrant.

He remembered that it was time for Young Master Liu's people to come and inspect his garden. If it goes well, they will form a contract with him. He was pretty excited to start making money, he still has his savings but the amount will not suffice if he wants to buy more land or for emergencies. Thus, providing vegetables for Young Master Liu's restaurant is the first step that he must conquer.

Ah! He also inspects the seeds he planted with his qi in his garden and his space. Both seeds grew well but the ones in the space grew a lot faster than in the garden. The ones in the garden grew at a faster speed than normal vegetables but it doesn't seem too obvious, which is a good thing.

He picks the ones that have ripened, cleaned them and put them in big rattan baskets. Currently, there are 10 baskets filled with cucumbers and cabbages, and there is also a medium-sized basket for the chillies. Since Wenmin decided to promote the chillies as something exotic, he needs to make sure that the number of chillies being sold is controlled.

While he was busying himself with his garden, Chen Jiahao finally made his move on his uncle's family. When he went to his house, he brought Shihuang and the village head. When the villagers saw Uncle Yichen with the two young men, they started to follow. They realised that they were heading towards Chen Jiahao's old house.

When his uncle heard the noises, the whole family went out to see it, even Wu Jiali went out to see the commotion. They saw a lot of villagers, the village head and two unfamiliar men with menacing auras and swords in the courtyard. They started feeling that something was wrong and were quite scared seeing the swords and blood thirst in the eyes of Shihuang and Jiahao.

"My, my. Don't tell me you forgot the face of your beloved nephew that you happily sent to the army six years ago. Seems like you've taken 'good care' of my house when I was away." Chen Jiahao broke the silence. After he said that, the faces of the people who were with him and his uncle and aunt were shocked.

The villagers were buzzing, they heard the aunt say that the young Jiahao volunteered himself but they didn't think that he was sent away. Seeing as to how the young man came back with swords and horses, they just thought he was a guest but surprisingly he was their fellow villager.

Among the crowds, there was Xinyi and Wenmin present. They came with Aunt Bao as she heard that the village head wanted the villagers to be witnesses of something. Wenmin saw the appearance of Jiahao's sarcastic face and also his handsomeness. He saw the faces of Jiahao's relatives, they turned white, black and red like some festive lights.

The aunt wanted to scold Jiahao but seeing the appearance of the village head and the clan elders, she knew that she couldn't make too much of a scene. "Oh my Jiahao, you came back! We were so concerned about you. Yes yes, your house was in good hands, don't worry." You could see how eloquent she is with spitting bullshit.

Her words even managed to make Shihuang cringe, not bad for an old hag. She has a talent for twisting words. "Since you've taken care of it for the past six years, I am back to take it mine. You don't need to burden yourself with this anymore." Jiahao said while sitting on the porch. He looks like those yakuza with a cigarette between their lips asking for money. Hot and dangerous.

"What do you mean you came back to take it?! If it wasn't for my ama and father, your rotten house wouldn't be in a good state!" Suddenly there was an annoying noise behind Jiahao's uncle. It turns out it was good-for-nothing Chen Haoran voicing his dissatisfaction with his father. The elders frown at his behaviour, they knew what had happened and hoped to settle this matter more peacefully.

Seeing as how there were a lot of witnesses today, they knew it was the plan of the village head. He was the closest with Jiahao's parents and they were like brothers. One of them said, "Jiahao, you can give them some time to pack up and go back to their house. We can go to the county to settle the deeds."

The aunt's ears perked up when she heard the word deed. "Jiahao ah, about the house. Would you be so kind to give it to us? Since we have spent the past six years taking care of it, your cousin also got himself a wife oh. He will have his own family in the future." Listening to her words, the elders started to frown even more.

They couldn't believe that this shameless woman married into their Chen family. Even trying to covet their own children's belonging. "Yeah, I am married and there will be children in the future oh! Give me the house deed, you wouldn't need it anyway. What can a lowly soldier even do with a house anyway humph." My my, if this Haoran was my cousin, I would've smacked his head in front of his parents.

Shihuang, with a blink of an eye, grabbed Haoran's collar and threw him over the walls with one hand. "Who do you think you are? Do you think your lowly peasant is on the same level as my boss? He killed barbarians on the battlefield, he can easily kill you without you noticing. Trying to take what my boss owned eh?" He said.

Xinyi, seeing Shihuang's heroic action, was mesmerised by how strong he is. The villagers got scared by the word 'killed' and imagine the barbarians getting killed by these two men and got scared by them. They reflectively stepped back, making Wenmin and Xinyi stood out.

Jiahao, realising that Wenmin was also there, wanted to stop Shihuang but what he saw was not a scared, timid ger. But he saw a look of anticipation and excitement twinkling in Wenmin's eyes. He smiled, even more, realising that Wenmin was different and special than any other ger he had met.

His aunt, seeing his treasured son being thrown started to show her true colours. "What are you doing to my son?! Aiya, how can you treat me, your relative like this? You are an unlucky star ba! You should have died on the battlefield. Your house and land will inevitably be ours. If it wasn't for your land and house do you think I will be willing to live here ah?"

The village head heard what she said and took out the land and house deeds, "Dead? Yours? Bah! You old had, the deeds have already been approved by the county magistrate. It has already belonged to Jiahao a few days ago. He came to take back what was his. Nothing belongs to you. Get out of his house!"

Even the elders were surprised by how fast Jiahao and Yichen were in settling the problem. Shihuang went inside the house and started to throw everything inside, and outside the house. There were rotten foods, unwashed clothes, and pots and pans with weird things growing on them. The villagers were disgusted by the dirty things.

There were two gers and one woman living inside the house, how can the house be so dirty? Even the sheets were stained with weird things. Chen Haoran's little ger brother, Chen Meimei, was ashamed when he was labelled as a lazy ger by the villagers. Jiali, who came to see the excitement, was angry that her laziness was brought out by strangers.

She quickly picked up her clothes and dragged her husband to take care of the matter. Jiahao's uncle can only stand to watch his nephew and another man wreaking havoc. He couldn't imagine that one day his nephew would come back, alive.

He was sure that the boy would die in the barracks but seeing the tall, muscled and fierce young man, he was scared to his wits. It was like seeing his strong brother back to life. He hide behind his wife and refused to scold Jiahao.

Jiahao, seeing how scared his uncle was, only sneered. He took out his sword from the sheath and plunge it into the ground. seeing the long and big sword, even his aunt stayed silent. The noisy Jiali also stood silent, his husband peed himself. What a funny sight to be seen.

Wenmin was so focused on the scene that he didn't realize the villagers took another step back when they saw the sword. Making him stand out even more, Jiahao saw the look of amazement on his face. It was like seeing the most eye-catching flower among the weeds, Wenmin stood out without an ounce of fear on his face.

This only makes Jiahao's will to marry Wenmin even stronger. "Alright, since you don't have anything to say. You can take back what you want and the rest would be burned by me. But seeing as how much trash you hoarded, the only thing valuable may only be your dignity. Pick them out and go back to your own house."

Some of the young men who despised Haoran, when they heard what Jiahao said, snickered and chuckled silently. But those noises could still be heard by the elders and they were very ashamed of how the young people in their family act. Especially Haoran, how can a fully grown man piss his pants? Outrageous!

The family can only pack their things and quickly fled from the scene. But the aunt vowed in her heart that she would pay Jiahao back for making her family lose their faces in front of the villagers and the elders. She was known to be a snobbish and arrogant woman who likes looking down on others, now that the tables have reversed, she couldn't take the shame.

"Thank you fellow villagers for being the witness for today. I am sorry that I can't accommodate everyone, as you can see, there is too much trash to be disposed of. Once everything is settled, I will invite people to eat." The villagers can see the disgusting things Chen Haoran's family has been keeping and didn't mind the formalities. At least they get to see something fun happening.

They all dispersed and went back to their homes and work. However, the incident that happened today was told to the other villagers and even the nearby villages heard of the incident. They even looked down on the Chen clan for having a disgusting and parasitic family in their clan. The elders can only stay silent, every one of them thought to themselves that if they stopped the things that happened six years ago, would things be different now?
