Chapter 18 - Apologize

Ezra tightly clutched his bag.

As usual, the moment he entered the school gates, many pairs of curious and malicious eyes fell on him. Rio's pack members all glared at him and growled silently under their breaths.

As for his pack members, they all looked at him with slight accusation. The pack meeting yesterday was supposed to upkeep the peace between the two packs, but he screwed up, and now they were in a direct clash with Rio's pack.

Ezra lowered his head slightly. 'Fuck.. it's all my fault. I shouldn't have done that…'

Mateo patted his back slightly. "Cheer up. It's not like the end of the world."

"If that Rio doesn't accept my apology, then it is the end of the world as we know it. Both packs will go to war." The matter was that grave. Ezra found Rio much easier in the crowded hallways. The man, as usual, was talking to some chick with a bright smile on his face.

His wolf suddenly let out a loud growl.

Everyone around him froze.

Even Ezra did.

'What the fuck did I just do! Ahhhh!!' He massaged his head. 'My wolf is going crazy! Why did I growl!'

Looking up, he met the gaze of his one true nemesis, Rio Velveta. The man was looking at him with a peculiar look in his eyes, but the huge black eye he was sporting really killed his vibes. Ezra chuckled under his breath. 'Don't laugh, darn it. You have to be serious.' He walked up to him. "I'm sorry about yesterday."

Rio raised a brow. "Oh… it's okay." He smirked. "But why did you just growl at me?" He challengingly leaned close. "Did you want to challenge me, Ezra?"

"No…" Ezra stepped back. "I don't. My wolf was just feeling a bit constricted."

"Hmm, he must be. After he took a chunk out of me," he gestured to his bandaged wound. "he must be feeling so accomplished."

Ezra shook his head. "No, I don't. It was a mistake, and I apologize."

Rio looked him up and down. "Mnn…." Without another word, he just walked away, leaving him very much confused.

"He accepted my apology, right?" Ezra nudged Mateo.

"Huh… oh…" His best friend distractedly looked at Rio.

"What is it?" He pulled Mateo close.

"Don't know… I feel like Rio was different today. Less aggressive… more… more something. I can't put a finger on it."

Ezra chuckled. "He is like that." He dragged him to their class. The pack wars might be avoided temporarily, but this was not a good solution. Velveta pack has too much rage and vengeful feelings towards their own. As for why. No one knows. His father had not even told him the future alpha of the pack.

The rest of the day, Ezra felt slightly better. That crushing guilt disappeared right after apologizing, and the sleep he lost came rushing towards him like a wave. He kind of slept through the whole day. Thankfully, he was on the back bench, and the teachers did not notice his dead self. Mateo had to drag him out of school half-asleep. "Wait." Rio ran after them. Ezra tiredly rubbed his eyes. "Huh…"

"About what happened at your house… you better not tell anyone." Rio hesitantly gazed at him. It sounded like a threat and a plea.

Ezra blinked at him. "Why would I tell anyone? I don't have that habit."

"You better not…" Rio mumbled under his breath and rushed to his car. Ezra leaned on Mateo once again. "Come on, little cattle, drag me to your car."

"Your cattle is feeling his shoulders crushed from your weight," Mateo shrugged him off. "What was that about?"

"Huh?"

"Rio. What did he want to hide? Anything else happened yesterday."

Ezra's sleep went away instantly. "Nah, nothing interesting."

Mateo pushed him into the seat and drove away. Rio watched this from his car, clutching the steering wheel tightly.

"Honey, are you okay?" His new fling gently touched his fist. "Did that Ezra make your face like this? You should have had a swing at him today. I can't stand his smug face."

"Shut up!" Rio glared down at her and flung her hand away. "Get out of my car."

"Rio… I—"

"I said get out!" Overwhelming waves of alpha power seeped out of his enraged form.

Trembling, the girl rushed out. Rio drove out of the school, car wheels screeching. The girl bit her nails.

'What did I say? Why are men such assholes! Fuck, I'm going to date women now.'
