Back down in the Sea and Root Oasis, Bai Xiyi and Meng Guo hovered over the unconscious Ji Ning, pondering over her condition. After Bai Xiyi had stabilized her condition with an injection of Wood energy, the two of them attempted to diagnose what exactly was wrong, but were unfortunately stumped.

"This is quite perplexing, Fellow Daoist Meng," Bai Xiyi said in his low rumble. His tail swished back and forth as he mulled over Ji Ning's symptoms; other than her comatose state, there were no obvious maladies or ailments, but despite their best efforts they had been unable to wake her.

"Indeed, Fellow Daoist Bai. Her soul seems to be intact, and I found no trace of foreign energies within her body," said Meng Guo as he stroked the stubble on his chin, "But she is slowly losing her vital energy, and the qi in her dantian doesn't seem to be replenishing as it should."
