The Rivalry

The day the result was announced, both the highlights of the show weren't really anxious. They both thought they were at the top and rested on their seats in the classroom. The head teacher suddenly came forward and said, "Class, you can see the results."

The crowd finally cheered as they started muttering among themselves.

"That fateful day is here!"

"Ah, I can't wait!"

"I really want to see who will top."

"Me too!"

"Ahhhh, the notification just came! Let's see!"

The entire class went silent. Qi Jingguo didn't want to move his finger as he hadn't been able to sleep the previous night because he was playing the online mecha game. He spent so much time in his VR that he almost forgot to log off and continued to play until dawn.

So he only slept for an hour. Since he already knew he was on the top, why would he need to spend the effort to see the result personally? Hadn't he always been able to snatch the first position effortlessly?
