How the hell did he know !

As soon as those words left his mouth, I was startled. I couldn't believe my ears. He looked at me with a befuddled expression.

"What ?"

He said, unbothered.

"What academy ?"

I said as casually as I could, trying to look calm.

While remaining silent I tried to finish my food. My head had started to fill with questions.

He sighed and said,

" I know that you joined that academy"

I think I almost had a heart attack at this. I immediately looked at him and covered his mouth with my hand, preventing him from speaking another word.

"shut up"

I said in a low voice. Looking around to see if anyone had heard all this. Fortunately no one had, everyone was eating and chatting with one another.

Finally inhaling some air. I looked back at Everett and let my hand off of his face.

"Don't ever talk about it here, If anyone hears us. Both of us will get executed"

I whispered in his ear trying to make him aware of the circumstances and aftereffects.

"okay okay "

He said, trying to assure me that he won't bring it up again. My heartbeat at this point was getting back to standard.

"now tell me"

I said, still looking around to see if anyone was listening.

"Tell you what ?"

he said.

"how the hell did you know about all this"

I said, looking at him with a doubtful expression.

"oh that ?"

he said while realising what I meant.

I nodded and he spoke,

" That manager girl in the army told me, I don't quite remember her name "

"Andeli ?"

I asked, confused as to why Andeli revealed something so secretive and crucial to him.

"oh yeah Andeli, yes that was the girl"

He said, looking towards me.

"Why did she tell you that?"

I asked, confused and slightly disappointed in Andeli.

"I saw you entering the building once, so I thought that you worked there as a waiter, so I went up and thought it would be great to have a reunion , so I went up to the reception and asked her If you worked there"

"and?"

I asked as he stopped talking.

"And she told me that you didn't work there but joined the team"

He whispered and I couldn't be more disappointed in Andeli at this point.

"I was amazed bro, good job"

He said, smiling.

I nodded and smiled back. I shouldn't have trusted her, I kept telling myself but it was too late. I don't know how many more people she told this to.

Both of us stayed silent, Everett was trying to sleep.

I wasn't feeling sleepy. With this much noise, it was hard to sleep. I was looking around, trying to observe the people that were in that room.

Mostly above 30s and a few were in their 60s. Me and Everett were the only younger ones in that room.

An old man was still playing with his food, about the age of sixty. Two ladies were gossiping non-stop.

My eyes suddenly stopped on an old lady sitting in a far corner. Something told me that I knew her but couldn't remember from where or when.

I tried hard to remember who she was but all efforts were in vain.

I was still lost in my thoughts when a male nurse came inside the room.

Everyone diverted their attention towards him. He looked at us and turned the lights off with a remote in his hand.

"Time to sleep, no more talking"

He said, rudely.

"I'll come and check everyone in fifteen minutes and If I see anyone awake, then no breakfast will be served tomorrow"

He shut the door and everyone immediately laid down. I shut my eyes and didn't know when I fell asleep.

Morning arrived and all the lights were switched on. Everyone woke up.

"Good morning"

Everett said pleasantly.

"g'morning"

I replied back.

After a few moments,

Nurses served breakfast and we started eating. Everyone was eating quietly. An apple and slices of brown bread.

"weird combination"

Everett said and started eating.

"yeah"

I said to him, looking for someone. My eyes searched everywhere in the room but couldn't find her.

That lady from last night had disappeared somehow. I didn't think much and started eating. We only get two meals a day.

As I munched my food , The door suddenly opened and the same nurse from last night appeared.

He came inside, looking here and there as if looking for someone and called out my name.

"Haruto"

He said, loudly.

I immediately stood up. Hoping not to get shifted to another room.

"That's me"

I said, slightly terrified. Everyone's attention was now on me as if I was some criminal.

"Someone is here to visit you, come with me"

He said, making me confused.

"Who is it?"

I asked him as politely as I could.

" come and see for yourself"

He said, getting a bit annoyed.

I walked towards him and he cuffed my hands and wrapped a cloth around my eyes, so I couldn't see anything.

He grabbed my arm and we started walking. I have no clue about how big this place is.

We kept walking for about forty minutes until he stopped and made me sit somewhere, I still had that cloth on my eyes.

A few moments later he took off the cloth and told me to wait.

I opened my eyes and looked around. I was in a tiny room with a small window right in front of me. The window was closed.

I still had no clue, not even a guess as to who might be visiting me .

I wait a few more moments until the door finally opens and a nurse comes inside.

She doesn't say anything and opens the window. She leaves the room and I can hear the door getting locked.
