"Do you think it heard my prayer?" Bentley asked.
"I don't think so..."
At that precise moment, both of them felt a rush of evil energy coming from behind. Bentley spun Atticus around and pulled him out of the way, just in time to avoid being crushed by a giant stone foot. The angel statue hadn't disappeared, it had just moved. And now it was trying to step on them like ants!
"HOLY—!" Bentley started.
Before she could finish her shouting, Atticus grabbed onto her waist. Seeing how it's stomping was easily avoided, the statue switched tactics, this time swinging it's arm back. Just as the giant white fist collided with the ground, the two little figures of Atticus and Bentley disappeared in a flash of light. The earth shook with the impact, and a deep, filthy hole was left where the statue had punched. But the targets of the blow were completely safe.
