After Bentley had finished her lengthy tale, Atticus tried to convince both her and Lucy to get some sleep. They were both astonishingly drunk and needed to sleep everything off. Of course, Bentley flopped down on the couch right away, but Lucy was less obedient. He started complaining that a dusty little shop was not fit for a prince to sleep in, and that he needed a proper bed with proper room service. And somehow, that was up to Xander to find.
Bentley was too drunk. Atticus was too busy handling Bentley. Frances was too frightened. And Hazel was too confused. The responsibility to find appropriate sleeping quarters for his royal highness fell on Xander. So he took Lucy to a nearby chain-hotel and dumped him in one of the rooms, grumbling the entire time. He had just been trying to find his sister. That was all. He hadn't signed up for any of this.
Just as Xander was leaving through the hotel's parking lot, he heard a voice. call from overhead.
"Hey! Get back here!"
