The level of intensity in which he was looking at her was so strong that even Atticus felt uncomfortable. Ever since Bentley returned from the dead, it had been Atticus looking after her. If she was powerful enough to destroy a fragment of God's soul then she wouldn't have been stabbed, she wouldn't have fallen into Lucy's mental-torture maze, and she certainly wouldn't have let Atticus drag her around so much.
