Giovani paced the length of the room Larry was resting before he died, Sara stood there with Kai, waiting for him to speak.
"How could this happen? You said there were no complications at all!"
"There were no complications! He was perfectly fine, I don't understand how this happened. I need to tell the kids."
Kai pulled out his phone.
"I'll tell Camila so she can pass it on to Paul. You tell Macy and Alex."
Giovani approached Sara. "Listen. I'm going to need you to give me the results of his autopsy as soon as you get it."
Giovani nodded back and headed to the station. Sara sighed and left too.
Meanwhile Kai was on the phone with Camila.
"Hey, Kai, wassup?"
"Look, is Paul with you?"
"No, he's at his house, why?"
"Ok, I need you to call him and tell him to come over to your house. I'm on my way there."
"Wait! Is everything ok?"
Kai sighed. "I'll explain when I get there."
STARK'S
Macy was having a cup of tea with Izzy, while Alex was attending the last customer of the day.
"An ex? I can't believe it. I didn't even know she dated someone before Paul." said Macy.
"You can't?" said Izzy.
"I'm not surprised at all. Have you seen her butt?"
Alex frowned at his sister's words while Macy just rolled her eyes.
"I don't doubt that. It's just.....I never knew Cami had a relationship before Paul, and I'm her friend."
"I'm her friend too." said Alex. "But I don't care. I have more important things to worry about than some random dude Camila used to date in the past."
Macy shook her head. "I just...why didn't she tell me?"
"Why are you making such a big deal about this?"
"You would understand if you were a girl, my friend was dating someone and I knew nothing about it."
"Come on, Mace," said Alex. "Who gives a damn if Cami had another partner before Paul?"
The door of the diner swung open.
"Sorry, we're closed." Alex proclaimed without even looking at the door.
Sara walked in, looking numb. "It's important."
DAVENPORT'S HOUSE
Bruce Davenport fell back against the couch, he'd been poring over Mia's notebook since Giovani left, but had to give up eventually.
Mia was very unorganized, if the Slayer's identity was in there, she didn't make it clear at all.
Davenport rubbed his hand over his face.
Just when I thought we were finally getting a break.
His inner monologue was interrupted when the lights went out.
He shot to his feet and took out his gun, blinking to adjust his vision to the darkness.
He heard something behind him and turned around but could do nothing to stop the dining chair that was already on a collision course with his head.
The detective was dazed and couldn't even get up, he lifted his head to see a blurry, masked figure in front of him.
The Slayer stood there, staring down at him.
STARK'S
Sara sat down. Alex gave her a glass of water.
Macy stood frozen. She hadn't moved since Sara came in.
"He's dead, isn't he?"
Her voice cracked audibly.
That caught Sara off guard.
"I-"
"Answer me!" she interrupted, her eyes already brimming with tears. "Is Larry dead?"
Alex and Izzy looked at her expectantly.
Sara quietly nodded.
Izzy hugged Macy just as the Filipina fell to her knees and she started to cry silently.
"How could this happen?" asked Alex. "Were there any complications?"
Sara shook her head. "No, not even one. I left him resting after surgery. Kai had only checked on him like 5 minutes earlier. And then he just flatlined. I'm sorry."
"Then what caused his death?"
"I don't know. I have to wait for the autopsy results. Although, Detective Grande has a theory."
Alex frowned. "What is it?"
"He thinks Larry was murdered."
Macy shook her head.
"No! That makes no sense, Larry didn't know anything, he would've told me about it! There's no way in hell it could have been..."
"The Slayer? That's his suspect."
"But, so far The Slayer has killed people who knew his identity, besides Silko and my mom." said Alex.
Sara sighed. "We'll find out what happened to Larry. I promise." She wiped away her tears and left.
Alex went to comfort Macy, who was now bawling loudly. Izzy closed the door and joined her brother and friend in a group hug.
CAMILA'S HOUSE
Paul rolled his eyes as he stepped aside for Kai to walk in.
"What's so important it couldn't wait until tomorrow morning, Kai?"
Kai looked nervous.
"Kai, what is it?" asked Camila.
He took a deep breath. "I swear there were no complications. We believe someone did...Something."
Realization hit them both. "No..."
He took another deep breath. "Yes. Larry's gone."
Camila gasped, Paul closed his eyes and sank into the couch.
"We tried to revive him for twenty minutes. I'm sorry, we did everything we could."
Paul shook his head.
"How the hell did that happen?"
"We don't know. We'll wait for the autopsy results." said Kai. "But if you want to know my opinion, I believe Larry was murdered."
Camila sniffled. "Why? Why would anyone want to kill Larry?"
"Maybe he knew?"
Paul looked at Kai. "Knew what, Kai?"
"I mean, what if he knew something about The Slayer?"
Camila shook her head.
"No. He would've said something."
"I don't know if Larry knew something. But I do know his death wasn't natural. I can't prove it, but I know it. So far, I can't think of anything else that could've caused his death."
"But why, dammit, why?" said Camila. "It's bad enough that Mia had to die, now Larry too?"
Kai got up. "I better get going. I have an exam tomorrow. I'm really sorry." He said his goodbyes and left.
Paul turned to Camila. "Do you want me to stay with you?"
Camila shook her head.
"I'll tell my dad. You need to go take care of your mom."
He kissed her goodbye and made his way out.
DAVENPORT'S HOUSE
"Oh, shit!"
Giovani ran and knelt next to Davenport, who was lying on the floor. He shook him and gave him a few slaps until he finally heard his partner groan out.
"Damn, what the hell, man?" Davenport questioned as he shoved Giovani away before standing up, rubbing his face.
"You passed out." said Giovani.
"What happened?"
Davenport looked at the discarded dining chair and the memories came back.
"Oh, man." he said. "He was here."
"What?"
"The Slayer was here, he attacked me."
Giovani glanced at the coffee table. It was empty.
"Bruce? Did you keep the notebook somewhere else?"
Davenport followed his partner's gaze to the table and shook his head.
In less than 24 hours, The Slayer had taken them from feeling optimistic to complete hopelessness.
CLARKE MANSION
The bell rang. Daniel Clarke opened the door.
"What do you want, Norman?"
Julian walked in, grinning. "Just wanted to check on you, Mr Clarke. How's your project doing?"
Clarke frowned.
"The project's doing great. There are some details I need to take care of, but everything else is perfect. Any news?"
Julian smirked. "Nope, I just came to remind you what's my price for helping you."
Daniel glared at him.
"You play your part well, you'll get your pay and Camila Glavas is yours."
"I'm getting impatient."
"You need to learn how to be more patient, boy, I've been planning this for a long time and I can't have someone else screw it up like Silko did, so you're gonna have to stay calm. Now get the hell out of my property."
Julian opened the door and threw a mock salute. "Yes, sir!"
The robust businessman glared at Julian's back as he walked away.
"That bastard better not ruin my plans, or I swear he's gonna wish was never born." He mumbled.
