The Companion

Aaron decided to climb the cliff before the storm begins, then hide in a cave till the next morning.

He started climbing as fast as he could since the storm became so close.

When he reached half of the cliff, stopped for a moment to catch his breath. He didn't expect it to be this hard. He was used to climbing the mountain, but the snow made it very hard for him. His body was trembling and his hands were freezing.

After pushing himself too hard, he barely has any strength left to continue what was left.

The wind started to get stronger and stronger. He tried to hold on as much as he could.

" This is not good, I'm stuck here. I can't go back or head up. I don't have the power to hang on any longer, I can't even open my eyes. The storm is so strong. Will it be my end?"

The temperature dropped even more and his hands were frozen to the point that he couldn't feel them.

" At this rate, I'm going to fall! "

His hands started slipping, and he tried, desperately, to hang on, but he ended up falling off the cliff.

"Is it the end of me? I didn't even start.

He closed his eyes and surrender to death.

Suddenly, while falling, he heard a weird sound. He could barely open his eyes. All he could notice was someone with big wings came and caught him before he smatch at the ground.

- AARON, OPEN, YOUR EYES. ARE YOU OKAY?...AARON, WAKE UP!

The voice sounded familiar to Aaron, but he couldn't stay conscious any longer. His eyes were very heavy that he fell immediately into a deep sleep.

After a couple of hours, Aaron woke up, he was in a cave, and a fire was set close to him to keep him warm. He looked around, it is already night.

" Who saved me? Where is he?"

- You finally woke up. How are you feeling?

Aaron opened his eyes wide, what a surprise!!

It was his brother Tarou.

Aaron jumped unconsciously and hugged his brother, but after that, he pushed him away while looking angry.

- WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP. YOU SHOULDN'T COME HERE, WHAT IF FATHER FINDS OUT?...

- It was father who sent me after you.

- DON'T LIE TO ME.

- I'm not. He was worried about you because he knows this area very well. It is impossible to walk out alive if you don't have power. Don't worry, I will just make sure you will arrive in the city safe and sound then you will be on your own. Let's talk more later. l brought some food, you must be hungry.

Aaron sat in the corner while looking at his brother preparing food.

It was like his first time seeing Tarou.

For him, he was much more like a rival than a brother. Tarou was taller and much more handsome. Blond hair with blue eyes and a perfect body.

Aaron has been trying for his entire life to surpass him. He never accepted anything that Tarou has been doing for him since childhood. It made him feel angry and pathetic.

Tarou knew that, but he never did hurt him in any way even after being powerless. He was always supportive.

Aaron felt guilty. He had never hated his brother but had never accepted his good deeds. He was always trying to push him away

-Thank you for saving me back there. Said Aaron while burying his face in his arms.

- What did you say? I didn't hear you

- Stop it. I'm not going to say it twice.

Tarou smiled:

- Come here, little brother. Let's eat.

Despite his grumpy face, Aaron was happy because his brother will accompany him.

The two brothers rested well at night, and in the morning they headed off to their destination.
