The New Mission (3)

When Dylan told them that he knew a secret path to the hollow earth in the land of the monsters, Aaron and Tarou weren't that glad to hear such information. Their bodies trembled after only hearing that name.

The land of the monsters? It was the last place they want to go. How will they face the angry father? And what if their people found out about Aaron using the black stone? He will be killed in no time.

" What kind of mess is this?"

Tarou tried to understand what Dylan was telling them:

- How did you know about that? I have never heard about the existence of such a thing in our land.

- I read about it in our ancient book.

- The ancient book? But we are not allowed to read it!

- It was too tempting. I couldn't bring myself to ignore such an important book.

- Where is this path exactly?

- It's hidden under the temple.

- Are you sure?

- Didn't you ask yourself, how the holy heart is always so powerful despite being used all these centuries? There is something that gives him energy constantly.

- What is that?

- Every powerful stone absorbs energy from a big source in the hollow earth because it's their origin place.

- What if the holly heart leaves the land?

- It will be useless like any other powerful stone that leaves its source of energy.

- So you're saying that we should bring my mother with us to the hollow earth?

- Yes, she must be near the source to get the healing power from the stone.

Aaron slammed the table while looking annoyed:

- DAMN IT, THAT'S GOING TO BE ANOTHER PROBLEM...Anna will never agree to come easily with us. Not after what she has been through in the land.

At that moment, Sarra interfered:

- Don't worry, I think she will agree to go back to the land.

-Why are you so certain?

- The night when your father left Anna and turned his back on her, She nearly died in the snow, but someone saved her life and brought her to safety. She doesn't know who he was. He left his coat and his necklace beside her. She always says that she is in debt to him and she wants to thank him even if it was the last thing she will do. I think she won't refuse to go back with you. Just tell her the truth, and she will understand.

- Let's hope that. We can't force her to go back with us if she refuses.

Aaron closed the book and stood up:

- I think it is late, Anna must be worried. Thank you Diana for helping us.

- I owe you my life.

Sarra, Aaron, and Tarou left the library to go back home, but Dylan followed them:

- Wait! Are you leaving?

- Yeah, we can't stay here any longer. Do you want something?

- When can I meet aunt Anna?

- Give us some time to tell her about our new plan.

Dylan smiled:

- Alright...

Finally, they returned to the house. Anna was waiting patiently for their coming back. Her face brightened as soon as she saw their faces.

- Welcome back! How was your day?

Aaron and Tarou looked at each other:

- It...It was okay.

Anna felt something strange in her sons' behavior:

- Did you meet that woman, again?

- Yes we did, she told us how to cure you from that disease, but...

Aaron couldn't bring himself to tell her any further:

- But, what?

Tarou decided to tell her the truth:

- The healing stone is in the hollow earth, and its only path is in the land of the monsters.

- So, you will go back to the land! It's okay. I will wait for you.

- No, the stone shouldn't leave its place or it will be useless.

- What do you mean?

- You must come with us to the land of the monsters.

Tarou told his mother everything they knew about the stone.

Anna didn't make any reaction at first, she sat down and kept listening without a word.

After some moments, she stood up and went to her room. Aaron wanted to catch on to her, but Sarra stopped him:

- Don't talk to her, she needs some time alone to deal with her emotions.

Tarou and Aaron stayed in the living room waiting for their mother to come back.

- Is she going to refuse? Is she angry? Maybe we shouldn't ask her something like that in the first place, there must be another way.

While they were lost in their thoughts, Anna came back. They stood up and looked at her waiting for her decision.

- I will go with you... I will go back to the land of the monsters after seventeen years. I don't care if it will work or not as long as I will spend more time with you, but I have one condition.

-What is it?

- If I ever meet your father don't interfere between us, I will handle it on my own.

- Fine, we won't interfere.

- That's settled then.

Aaron and Tarou felt happy. Nothing will hold them back from saving their mother. As for Anna, she was very nervous. She will be back to the place where she suffered the most.

" Will everything be okay? "

- When will be traveling?

- Tomorrow...We must start to gather our things.

Replied Tarou.

- Tomorrow? Shouldn't we wait for a few more days?

- We Shouldn't waste any more time...

Suddenly the door knocked:

- Who's coming at this hour?

Aaron opened the door...It was Dylan.

- What are you doing here?

- I came to say hi to aunt Anna.

Dylan pushed Aaron aside and went in without permission. When he saw Anna, he ran and hugged her.

- I MISSED YOU, AUNTIE.

- DYLAN? IS THAT YOU? I'M HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN.

- Yeah, me too

Anna touched his face and brushed his hair gently while smiling:

- You changed a lot! My dear, Dylan.....
