On the way he ran into his mother; he was ascending the stairs while his mother was descending as she yawned lazily, seeming to have just woken up.

Hong Feng didn't mumble anything nor respond to her sarcastic remarks; he simply walked past her but his mother suddenly yanked his shirt after noticing he was giving her a cold shoulder catching him off guard.

Hong Feng fumbled back as he supported himself with the stairs rail, his entire body was aching and his knees too, so he wasn't stable, he raised his bowed head and confronted his mother his eyebrows raised questioningly, and his eyes were cold and distant.
