Learning to Read

[Bellona POV]

The party was somewhat fun but also quite exhausting.

However, something was bothering was me throughout that day and it was that fat noble named Darius.

He told grandfather that he will get his revenge on me. I don't know where and when he will strike, but I will not take my chances on waiting for that to happen.

I need to prepare myself in order to defend myself and my new family.

In order for me to do that, I need a very solid plan. A plan that involves gaining enough powers to take down everything that fat man will throw at me.

First of all, I need to learn very strong magics, as well as learning the voiceless enchantment so that I don't need to waste my time chanting the magic in very tight situations. Increasing my mana pool is also a must, in order to gain enough mana to cast powerful spells without tiring myself to death while in the middle of a battle.

As for swordsmanship, there were three swords style in the novel. Normally, I would try learning them all in one go just like the father of the MC. But when doing so will slow down my progress in reaching higher ranks, so I might as well focus on ranking up only one sword style first before moving to the next one. And if I were to choose which sword style I should learn first, that would be the sword god style.

I must also take to account that Darius is a noble and nobles like him will fight dirty though political means. So, in order counteract those, I must learn politics and other necessary information in order to think of a counter argument to the political shenanigans he will throw at me.

I should also need to be familiar with the fundamental norms, cultures, beliefs and history that made up the world of Mushoku Tensei. As well as learning the languages of the other race. The necessity of learning these will be handy when I came across a friend or foe from another race or someone that is not from Asura Kingdom.

Lastly, I need to learn etiquette. Since I am a noble by blood, I should be acting more dignify and elegant in front of my family and other nobles. I could probably learn that on my own but I don't think I can do it on my own, so an etiquette tutor is a must.

Speaking of the etiquette tutor, where was that old woman that used to teach Eris in the original timeline? What was her name again? Ah yes, I remember, Edna. I need her to teach me etiquette and correct my posture and demeanor.

With those goals in my mind, I have to find the library. Why? Well, that's the place where all of the information I need comes from. Besides, it is necessary to learn how to read before I can do all of these.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Since walking is now a piece of cake for me, I can search for the location of the library since I know there is one in the anime and the novel. I also knew where to find it since grandfather toured me around the mansion when I was seven months old.

Toddling my way through the hallway, I eventually found the library on my own. However, there was a slight problem and that is the knob of the door. I can't seem to reach it considering I am just one year old. Even though I tried my hardest to reach it, I can barely touch the knob from this height.

'Darn it, what do I do now?!' I thought to myself as I frustratedly staring at the doorknob.

"Oh, what do we have here?" then I heard a familiar voice behind me and turn around to check who was it. It was my father and he seems to notice my current predicament.

"Do you want to enter the library, my dear?" he kindly asked me, knowing that I want to enter this room.

"Yup!" I nodded while complying to his question and he gently picks me up before opening the door.

Upon entering the library, I couldn't help myself but to be amaze at the number of books I can see. The room itself was bigger than I expected compare to the one I saw in the anime.

When father saw my astonish expression, he tenderly smiles at me. He then brings me in front the bookshelf that was full of books with colorful bindings.

"Come on, Bellona. Pick one of those books and I will read it for you" father then prompts me to pick a book from the self. I complied and begin to search around for a good book to read.

'Since I can't read the title of the books, I will just randomly choose one book that seems interesting' I thought to myself as I randomly points at a certain direction at the shelf.

I pointed at a peculiar thick book with familiar cover. The design of the book seems to be similar to the one shown in the anime. What was it about again? I don't know, but I am eager to find out.

Father then went to the table and he takes a seat on the chair while I sit on his lap. He then read the title of the book, but something was odd about it.

"Legend of Perugius and the Seven Ancient Archons"

Wait a minute! Something isn't right here. Who are these people?

I know who Perugius was, he was the Armored Dragon King that defeated Demon God Laplas.

However, these seven ancient archons were something new to me. I never seen them in the anime nor the novel. Perhaps they were here because of my existence? Or was it something else entirely?

Oh well, time to find out who were these people are and what were their relation to Perugius.

-------------------------------------------------------

Father opens the book and starts reading the story.

It all started like what I remembered in the novel. Perugius and his twelve subordinates went to the fortress of the Demon God and they all fought there in a heated battle.

For the most part, Perugius was winning the fight, but it all change when a group of sinister creatures called the Abyss order helped the Demon God Laplas and turns the tide of the battle.

Because of the Abyss order's existence, a curse was brought to the land of the human and turn half of the human army into mindless creatures known as Hilichurls. This made the battle of the human-demon war difficult as they invaded the Milis continent and breach to the central continent.

Fortunately, seven individual appears from the sky above and descended to the battlefield. They have decided to help Perugius to push back the invasion of the abyss order and hilichurl.

Ultimately, Perugius took the opportunity to finish the battle and defeated the Demon God once and for all.

After the war was ended and he was crowned as a hero, the seven archons bid farewell to Perugius and vanished without a trace. The End.

------------------------------------------------------

The story that father read to me was absolutely strange, yet quite entertaining to hear.

Even though I still don't understand how these creatures known as the Abyss Order and Hilichurls came to this world and why they helped the Demon God.

At the same time, I was curious of the identities of these seven ancient archons and where they went after the war.

I have so many questions within my mind after hearing that story and I want to find the answer one day.

That being said, I learned quite a lot from this book, especially now that I know how some of the semantics of the human language works. Though I still don't understand some of the words, but I have a foundation to start knowing the text were written in the book.

I just need a little more practice before I can read on my own. This means I can ask father to read more books to me before I can fully master reading the human language of this world.

"More! more!" I demanded father to read me more books, which he wryly complied.

"Okay, my dear. Let's go get some more books to read"

He stands up from the chair and carried me again on his arms while heading towards the bookshelf.

Now that my semantics was improved, I can read some of the title of the books. I search around the shelf and there, found exactly what I am looking for. I pointed at that book and father picks it up for me.

"Magic guide book? Are you a bit too young for this, my dear?" father was worried about my choice of books but I wanted it, so I insisted on keeping it since this book is important to my goals.

"Me want it!"
