DAMON'S POV
*midnight*
I'm lost in thought, still in the meeting room when suddenly, I hear the bells ringing in a way that tells me there's trouble.
My wolf senses go wild as I get up from my chair with determination to find out what the hell is going on. When I reach the hallway leading to the throne room, I meet Ryder and Colton on the way with the same confused expression on their faces.
"What the hell is going on?" Colton asks seriously as they both approach me. This is one thing I love about my brother, Colton. If his people are in danger, he will stop at nothing to protect them.
"Master!" Some guards approach us at full speed. They look like they saw a ghost.
"Speak. Now!" I command.
"The slavery organization was apparently attacked master. It was the vampires Master. They took humans. The slavery organization's pet master knows more about what happened. He awaits you in the throne room."
My eyes almost bulge out of my skull at the news. Vampires? In the werewolf nation? And they took humans with them. I barge into the throne room with ferocity almost breaking down the huge doors, my brothers following me behind.
As I walk into the throne room, I meet my advisers already waiting for me. I scan the room looking for Reece but he's nowhere to be found. Where the hell could he be at a time like this? Normally he was the one to have informed me of this news.
I'll deal with that later.
I try to keep my calm as I take long strides towards my throne. The Alpha is always expected to be calm and collected no matter the situation at hand. If I show my people I'm worried it will only make them worry more and instill doubt of my power in their hearts. I need to keep it cool.
I take a seat on my throne and clear my throat to dismiss the murmuring in the room. My two brothers take their seats beside me as I prepare myself to address the slave master (Floki).
"What happened Floki?" I ask. My voice resonating in the room with authority and anger. I want to lash out but I need to stay calm.
"It all happened so fast master. We were having our late-night drinks when we heard a noise from outside. When we went to check, two of our men were down, bite marks on their necks. It all happened in a second. Before we knew it they were breaking our cages and taking the humans with them."
I only get more pissed off at his explanation. I take a deep breath to say something but Colton doesn't let me. He moves with superspeed towards Floki punching him senseless from left to right.
"That's enough Colton!!" I scream angrily in my authoritative voice. The one he can't resist since I'm his Alpha.
"This piece of shit sat there and had late night drinks while the vampires attacked us and took our humans! He deserves to die." He states.
"I am the Alpha and I will decide what he deserves!! Please take your seat Colton and don't make me ask again!" I declare and he does as he's told, offering Floki one more disgusted look before taking his seat once more.
I take a deep breath to calm my nerves before I kill someone as I address Floki.
"How many humans Floki? How many humans did they take?" I roar with anger, a loud growl in my voice as I speak.
"Fifteen master." He vocalizes in pain, trying to balance himself due to the blows he just received from Colton. I'm not mad at Colton for beating him up. Floki was irresponsible and negligent and I should probably hang him for this, but this is no time to throw around blame.
This isn't a good time to lose any more men.
I need to gather my thoughts and think of a good way to approach our current predicament.
"O-One more thing A-Alpha." He stutters with fear.
"What could possibly be worse than this?" I question, impatience laced in my voice. I'm already trying hard enough to keep my composure and not go feral in front of everyone.
"They took Master Reece. He passed by to check on the organization and.."
As he enounces, my nostrils flare open as my anger only gets worse. Now I'm the one punching him. I punch him so hard he flies across the room, his back hitting the hard wall. Ryder runs with superspeed to my side to stop me from offering him the next blow.
"Stop it Damon." He's no use to us dead.
"Apparently he's no use to us alive either!" I raise my voice making the others in the room with us flinch in fear.
I turn my attention towards the useless man on the floor. "Tell me Floki, did you at least kill or capture one of them. They have been in hiding for three years. They are to be weak since they must not have had human blood to feed on. So tell me, how the hell were you so irresponsible to have let them outsmart and over power you and even kill some of our men?" I interrogate, my voice loud enough to make the walls break.
"As soon as they were able to sneak in, they fed on any human or werewolf they could find. They were stronger and faster than us. There was little we could do. Before we knew it, they were gone. I'm sorry master. Please forgive me." He begs as tears start spilling from his eyeballs.
I swear I'm going to break his neck if he doesn't stop crying like a little girl.
"You know how far away Floki's slavery organization is from the main castle. He barely has enough guards to keep that place in check. It wasn't his fault Damon. Calm your shit down okay? The advisers are here and you might be the alpha but they are older than you. Show some respect."
As Ryder tries to calm me, I stare one more time at Floki with disgust. Deep down, I know he's not at fault for what happened. That place basically had close to no security.
A mistake I am now paying for. I never should have built that place so far away from the castle. I should never have gotten so comfortable with my new power.
I'm just pissed off that they took Reece. Words can't explain how angry I am. He was one of my most trusted and now he's gone. And what's worse, he knows our secret. If the vampire Lord is still alive, he will want to know how I got the power to defeat him and I don't even want to think of all the ways Reece will be tortured to draw out the information.
"This is no time to fight my sons." An old woman, one of my advisers says from her seat across the room, four other men nodding in accordance to her statement. They don't know about the serum. I decided to keep it away from them.
"We need to approach this reasonably!" One of the old men says. "I say we track them, attack them and make them pay. They are obviously outnumbered. And they have a disadvantage in daylight. We can make use of that weakness."
"We have no idea where they are. Their scents will be gone by morning making it hard to track them. Tracking them at night is dangerous. We might walk right into a trap. They took humans. What if their vampire Lord is still alive and they plan on feeding the captured humans to him? We were lucky once but it might not happen again. The vampire Lord is the most powerful creature in the world." Another old man objects.
"He was the most powerful. Then he was defeated. The Alpha cut his head off himself." Another old man speaks.
"And if he still happens to be alive? It might not have been that easy to kill him." The old woman utters.
"Assuming he's alive. Why wait three entire years to strike? What the hell has he been doing all this time?" An old man questions.
"Healing." Colton states loudly silencing the lot of them.
"Everyone get out. I would like to speak with my brothers alone." I declare. The room clears and I'm left alone in the throne room with my brothers.
