DAMON'S POV
My brothers and I got to the slavery organization a few minutes ago. Once we stepped in, the smell of human as well as werewolf blood filled our nostrils.
The vampires really hit us hard. How could we have been so careless, so irresponsible? How could I let them do this to my people.
The werewolves are counting on me, Reece was counting on me and yet, when the vampires came, I wasn't even there to protect them.
"This is unbelievable." Colton comments.
"It's even worse than I thought." Ryder states.
"Clean this up. Give the dead proper burials and double security in this place." I order to some guards we came with.
"Brothers. It's time to go back to the castle and start with the preparations. War is coming." I say in a low voice, searching for strength from the deepest parts of me.
Once my brothers and I arrive back at the castle, we organized our troops making sure we had enough soldiers that were fit for war. We divided them into four groups each headed by our most powerful warriors to train them. We doubled security around the castle in case the vampires decide to get bold and attack us before we find them.
"I was thinking about how we should share the serum. I divided it equally into three bottles. Each of us will have a bottle." I explain.
"However, I will only give your shares when the time comes."
"It would be more practical if we had our own share now don't you think? We might be attacked at any time. Having the serum close to us gives us a head start. We should each have our share now." Colton objects as usual.
I just don't trust him. He's impulsive and stubborn. If he has serum, he might decide to go on a vampire hunt all by himself and I'm not about to let that happen.
"Even without the serum, we are strong. We still have all the perks that come with being a werewolf." Ryder states taking my size which of course only pisses Colton off.
"You two are always ganging up against me." Colton says throwing his hands in the hair in frustration as his anger rises.
"We wouldn't have to if you weren't so unreasonable all the time." Ryder speaks again, rolling his eyes at Colton's behavior.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean Ryder?" Colton snaps back. Oh boy.. Here we go again.
"Come on, we all know you're going to shove the serum down your throat once Damon hands it over to you. You don't use your head." Ryder declares. If they don't stop with the bickering, this is going to turn into a fist fight.
"That's enough guys." I say, but Colton just ignores me anyways and continues talking.
"I'm the only one using my head here. I don't know if you guys have noticed but there is a literal war coming and we need to be prepared. The serum is a big part of our victory and…"
"Which is why I'm not going to let you waste it." My voice comes out deep and irritated cutting off Colton before he finishes his sentence.
"I am not going to waste it." He speaks offering me a death stare which makes me roll my eyes at him.
"Then I guess you shouldn't have any problem with me holding on to it." He quietly takes back his seat, realizing he won't change my mind.
"Fine. Do whatever you want."
"Anyways, we're sending out a team tomorrow of our best trackers to try and find where the vampire lord is hiding. They took Reece with them. He's a werewolf so if he's still alive, they shouldn't be that hard to track." I declare.
"That's a good idea. And if they find him, what then?' Ryder asks.
"We rain down on them like never before. We get Reece back, we get our humans back and we kill that monster once and for all. This time, I will decapitate him from head to toe and throw away the pieces in the ocean."
My eyes turn yellow, my wolf raging inside me. I haven't let him out in such a long time. Ever since the war three years ago, I haven't turned. My wolf is the most ferocious of all werewolves which is why I don't often let him out. He's a wolf meant for war and when I finally encounter the vampire Lord for the second time, I'll get the job done properly.
I calm myself rising from my seat to address my brothers before walking out.
"I'll be in my room. Colton, check on the soldiers and Ryder, make sure the tracking team is a hundred percent ready for tomorrow."
As I walk into my room, I don't immediately spot Morgana. I hear the sound of water flowing from the bathroom and realize she must be taking a bath.
It's not normal for pets and masters to share the same bathroom, especially me since I'm the alpha but werewolves can be perverts. I prefer for my pet to not be sexually abused. She's safer bathing in my bathroom.
God, I sound bipolar. Do I give a shit about her or not?
She comes out of the bathroom after a few minutes and she's wearing one of the new clothes I got her. A short gown that stops just above her thighs. I don't remember it being this short when I got it for her.
It exposes her shoulders and a good portion of her legs. I've never seen her hair this wet before. With it being soaked in water, the red color has a darker shade to it. I've never noticed how long her hair was either.
I'm sitting in a corner in the dark so she hasn't noticed me yet. She looks so vulnerable, fragile. Unaware of the beast that is in the corner watching her every move. Her skin looks perfect, void of the scars and bruises she had when she first came here.
She raises her hand slightly as she tries to tie her still wet hair in a bun making her figure and curves more pronounced.
Her skin tone has more color to it but she looks sad. She always looks either sad or angry or frustrated. I've never seen her smile and it makes me wonder what she looks like when she's happy.
I suppose she would look even more beautiful than she already does. Wait a minute?
Did I just call her beautiful? A human? I mean she is. She's probably one of the most beautiful people I've ever laid eyes on. She has perfect skin, perfect features, her curves are heavenly and her eyes, so blue you could drown in them. But I shouldn't be noticing these things about her.
I shouldn't even be checking her out.
I clear my throat to let her know I'm in the room, startling her.
"Master." She says quickly, surprised. She looks like she's mad at herself for not noticing I was there.
With my werewolf speed, I dash towards her and in seconds, she's inches away from me. I inhale, her scent intoxicating me.
"Look at me." I demand and she immediately raises her head, her deep blue eyes attacking the darkness in mine.
