WITCHES

ALANA'S POV

I've gotten a lot stronger since the spirits started communicating with me. I've learnt a lot of things from them. They taught me how to draw energy from nature, they taught me new spells. They explained to me what my vision meant.

They said a girl will escape the werewolf nation soon and seek refuge here in the forbidden forests. The girl I saw from my vision.

I asked them why the we have to wait for some girl to save us. I asked them why the witches can't take things into their own hands and free the humans from the reign of those creatures. All they told me was that there is a certain way things are supposed to go according to the prophesy. They said I can't interfere with the will of the gods.

It has ben decided by fate that a human girl with red hair will be our savior and I can't meddle with the will of the gods. I didn't really understand but I have learnt to be patient.

My mother barges into my room with a worried expression on her face.

"Alana. What have you done?" My mom asks me with worry.

"What's wrong mother?" I ask her furrowing my brows. I wonder what is it that is getting her this worked up.

"The supreme witch wishes to see you urgently. She has asked for you to meet her at her temple at once with the other elders." My mom explains.

"What? Why?" I inquire.

"I have no idea. But we need to go. Now child." My mom says to me and I quickly follow behind her she rushes towards the temple. My mom waits for me outside while I'm led in by two maids.

When I enter the temple, I spot the supreme witch sitting at her usual position with the other elders around her along with a girl my age. I remember her name to be Esther and she's one of the seers here in the forbidden forests. Meaning she can get visions from the spirits.

"Come forth child." The supreme witch says to me. I move forwards until I'm standing directly in front of her. The other witches surrounding me.

"We have received another vision, exactly like the one you saw." She explains making my eyes go wide with curiosity. Did the spirits show someone else the vision? If that's the case then at least the supreme witch will believe me now.

"Esther." She calls out. "Explain exactly what you saw." She orders.

The girl comes forwards standing by my side as she starts speaking. "I saw a girl with red hair. She was saving us. Her hair glowed brighter than the sun. The vampires and werewolves were all bowing in front of her. She had defeated them and set the humans free." Esther explains.

The supreme witch takes in a deep breath and speaks again. "Both of you have been trusted by the spirits with the same vision. I admit I was unreasonable when I ignored it the first time. But the fact that both of you have seen the same thing means we need to take action." She states.

"We will await this red-headed girl. Until then, both of you are to do everything the spirits tell you to and bring every information you gather back here to me. If this girl is real, then there is a great war at hand and we need to prepare. After all this time, the spirits have given us hope. Let us not waste this opportunity." The supreme witch says seriously making all the elders around agree with her.

"You two may go. I have not been spoken to by the spirits so I cannot be of much help to you two. They will surely teach both of you new things. You are to work together and keep us updated. In the meantime, the other witches will train and grow their strength and abilities, but majority of the responsibility is on you both. We are all counting on you." She finishes and dismisses Esther and I.

We walk out of the temple together and come to a stop in front of a big tree.

"I don't see you around very often." Esther says to me.

"I'm always locked up in my room. And I have been preparing since I got my first vision. I have been working with the spirits." I say to her.

"Why do you think they gave me the same vision? And why did they choose you? You are not a seer." She states.

"Maybe they gave us the same vision to convince the supreme witch of the urgency of the matter. The first time I brought it to her, she dismissed me without a second thought. As to why they chose me, I have no idea. But they have trusted us both with this responsibility. Let us not let them down." I say to Esther.

"What have the spirits told you so far?" Esther questions.

"There is power all around us. Witches are more powerful than we think we are. We can literally draw power from anything because every living thing has life. But it takes patience and practice. They said the key to defeating the vampires and werewolves is the sun and moon. The vampires are slaves to the sun and the werewolves draw their power from the moon. According to the spirits, we can access the power of the moon and the sun." I explain to her.

"Why not use this power ourselves then? Why wait for a human?" Esther asks me.

"That is what we will find out when she gets here. But they insist on the human being our savior. All we can do is trust them." I answer.

"Are you scared?" Esther asks me with a light frown.

"The spirits said there is a war brewing. The final war that will end this all. Of course, I'm scared. I have never fought in a war before nor do I know if I am strong enough to help this mystery girl." I say truthfully exhaling.

"With the help of the spirits, we will grow stronger. I am honored to work with you." Esther says to me holding her hand out.

I offer her a hand shake and we walk together, preparing for the war that is to come.
