The Undead was prohibited from reaching the borders of their Mortal Lands. It was a treaty that was built based on the progressing good relationship of the Mortals and Illyreans, the High Mortals, who possessed a different kind of strength, characteristics, and powers from the Mortals.

Due to the century-long war between the Mortals and Illyreans, many innocent lives were sacrificed. It was mostly true to the Mortals, who lost almost tens of millions of their people during the Great War, under the hands of the Illyreans who didn't only possess great strengths and powers that go beyond one's imaginations. It wouldn't be strange to even describe the war as a one-sided battle. However, despite their imminent and obvious defeat, the High Lords that ruled the Four Kingdom of Illyrean decided to reach their hands out first to the Mortals for a truce.

As gobsmacking as their intentions are towards this surprise truce they offered to the Mortals, the Kings of Mortal Lands couldn't refuse either. For they had already known long ago that they would never be able to win a battle against the High Mortals.

Thus, the treaty simply dictates that on the condition of a peaceful world between Mortals and the High Mortals, and to end the long war, Borders and Walls must be built in between their territories, never to be trespassed without permission.

And since then, the Mortals and Illyreans never trespassed their boundaries without reasons.

However, Peter's father couldn't understand why there was an Undead in the borders of their Mortal Lands? Could there be a leak in their borders? But how was that even possible? The Kingdom of Jade and Kingdom of Clythia made sure that the Eastern Walls were impenetrable. The only gate that was open for the High Mortals were the ones which were used for official uses. And that Wall was surrounded with Royal Guards, who were trained solely for the purpose of being able to fight and kill a monster that lurked around the Four Kingdoms of Illyrean.

Peter's father was still thinking of what could be the reason why a monster such one like Feeral was able to pass through their borders without being seen and executed on sight? Nevertheless, he must report this to their King and see to it that such an incident like this one wouldn't happen twice.

"Ungh…"

Just as Peter's father was about to move closer to the Feeral's corpse, the lady who they had assumed died under the hands of the undead, suddenly uttered a noise and her limbs trembled slightly.

"Milord! She's alive!" announced the coachman as he jumped away for fear that the lady was infected by the Feeral. Since all kinds of creatures that came from the lands of Illyrean were highly potent in different kinds of infections and curses even the High Mortals didn't want to catch.

Peter's father was also alarmed, but he soon calmed down when he didn't see the early signs of an infection. Aside from the dirt and blood as well as the wounds on her body, there were no dark web-like veins running across the lady's pale white skin. She was not infected.

Taking off his coat, Peter's father quickly moved to kneel on one of his knees beside the lady's body despite the words of warning that the coachman was uttering. Then, he wrapped the lady's cold and trembling body with his coat, covering her almost bare body from their eyes.

"You shouldn't do this, milord. We should leave her here instead!" Gilbert continued to suggest the right thing to do. After all, they had no knowledge of the lady's identity and how she was found next to a creature that should have been in the lands of Illyrean. "She has the blood of that creature on her body, monsters and beasts lurking around the area we will pass by will surely smell her from far away! Our lives will be put in danger if you bring her with us!"

"And just let her be and watch her die in this forest? Are you such a coward as to ignore an unconscious lady deep in this forest where the monsters and beasts you just mentioned could literally tore her apart?" Peter's father didn't want to leave the lady in that forest. Not when they had found her. It would have been alright if she were dead, they could just bury her body there. But she's alive.

The only option for them was to take her with them and make sure she is safe.

"We will take her with us." Peter's father said again without asking for any rebuttal from the coachman. They will become murderers themselves if they leave the lady there for the monsters and beasts to take her apart.

Though he was reluctant and still didn't want to bring the lady back to the carriage, Gilbert could only obey his master's order. Peter's father carried the lady in his arms as he walked out of the forest and into where the carriage was parked.

Peter and his mother were still waiting outside of the carriage for almost a quarter an hour. They were both worried that something happened to the two men when they finally saw them emerging out of the forest with an addition of another figure who was being carried by Peter's father.

"Albert!" Peter's mother quickly ran to where her husband was and looked at the young lady in his arms. She gasped aloud when she recognized the blood and wounds on her body, "Heaven's… what has happened to her?"

Peter's father, whose name was Albert, shook his head, "We're unsure of what happened to her. For now, we must be quick and go back to our manor before the sun sets. It wouldn't be good for us if the monsters and beasts in this area start coming out."

Peter shivered in fear when he heard of the monsters and beasts that may come out when the sun disappears. The monsters and beasts in the Mortal Lands only appear at night.

And now, they have only a few hours left to return to the manor.
