Chapter 69 - Taking Leadership of Camp 04.

[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Westeros.

...

...

After saying those words, the place fell into a deafening silence, with the sound of many throats swallowing hard at what they had just heard.

Even Mance had an intense look directed at Jon, seeing such ambitions, even though he already expected something grand from him.

"So you want to use the Free Folk to rule the South!?" Sixskins repeated the words of another tribal chief, breaking the silence that had settled between them.

"I already said I will use you, just as you will use me," Jon spoke, while receiving some disapproving looks from both the leaders and even those who initially supported him to lead. After all, they had only hoped to cross the Wall and simply live in the South.

Jon wasn't bothered by it. After all, it was perfectly normal. Then he continued speaking.

"Don't get me wrong. I don't need you. I have a dragon, and I could simply go South and rally other allies to my cause. I wouldn't have trouble finding men to follow me, and I wouldn't need many men when my dragon can destroy entire armies. However, whether you want to admit it or not, you need me. I'm giving you a chance to survive in the South. Do you really think you can live long with the noble houses of Westeros raising their armies in the South, while the White Walkers—or cold shadows, as you call them—come from the North?" He spoke loudly, leaving the people deep in thought.

"He has a point…" Tormund commented.

"We could steal your dragon, then kill you. You might kill a cold shadow, but you won't live long surrounded here," Rattleshirt said, gripping his bone axe.

"Jon!" Daenerys, hearing this, trembled and feared for Jon.

"That bastard." Ygritte growled, grabbing her arrow and preparing to strike.

"Hey, try anything here, and you'll die," Tormund said beside Rattleshirt, also grabbing his bronze axe.

The atmosphere grew tense, and some in the crowd began drawing their weapons. No one knew which side they would support, as everything was too confusing after Jon's words. Many had supported him—most of the Free Folk—but now, with his words, they didn't want to fight for him to conquer southern lands and, in the end, force them to kneel.

Mance was about to intervene, but at that moment, a massive figure flew through the sky, drawing everyone's attention with the sound of her wings. People on the outer edges of the camp turned to look as the white figure contrasted sharply with the dark sky, making it impossible to hide, and her immense body terrified all who looked up.

ROOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRR

The white dragon roared once more over the camp as everyone immediately turned to see Winter flying above them, cutting off any further protest.

The next thing they heard was the terrified screams of people as they started to flee, abandoning any thoughts of fighting the creature beating her wings in the sky, seemingly enraged and ready to strike anyone who acted against Jon.

Even Rattleshirt lowered his weapon, taking a step back in fear as Winter drew closer, her wings generating gusts of wind before landing in the middle of the camp. The people around quickly backed away.

All the leaders took steps back, but they remained frozen as Winter stared at them, with only Jon standing still. Winter landed beside Jon, and the dragon seemed to fix her gaze directly on Rattleshirt before roaring, letting out a breath of icy air that everyone could feel.

Val immediately pulled Della away, recognizing the danger.

ROOOOOOAAAAAARRRR

The Free Folk first felt the tremor from her landing and then the roar that would leave anyone nearby deaf. Winter had never entered the center of the camp before, and now everyone could finally see just how immense she was and how insignificant they all seemed in comparison to her size. Fear gripped everyone at that moment.

"Well... it seems that if you want to kill me, you'll have to get through my dragon… and I doubt anyone can tame her. You can try, Sixskins," Jon said calmly, as everyone stood stunned, glancing between Jon and the dragon towering over him, glaring at everyone after her warning roar.

Even the wolf accompanying Sixskins cowered between his legs, with his master trembling in place. It seemed that being a powerful warg wouldn't be of much use after all. Winter moved closer, extending her neck toward the man.

Sixskins appeared paralyzed as the dragon stood right in front of him, opening her mouth and revealing her teeth as a white light began to glow, ready to unleash her icy breath.

"Jon… are you really going to kill him like this?" Mance asked, watching the attack draw near, while everyone else scrambled to get away as fast as they could.

Sixskins was in the worst state of all—frozen in place and trembling before the creature that could swallow him whole due to her immense size.

"Stop, Winter."

The dragon stopped immediately as Jon simply commanded her to halt. She pulled her head back but continued to glare at her target, before raising her head once again to stand over Jon.

"..."

The entire place fell into silence. Only a few people remained near the circle, while many others had fled, and some had to move back because the dragon occupied a large space beyond the circle Mance had created.

Daenerys stood there with Lucis and Ygritte, watching the entire situation in silence, along with several others.

"As you can see… killing me is harder than it seems..." Jon's calm voice broke the silence once again as the tension slowly began to ease.

Everyone still looked stunned, and Sixskins remained frozen in place, trembling as he continued to stare in fear at the dragon.

The silence was finally broken by a loud, booming laugh.

"Hahahahaha! Now that's a way to put your enemies in their place!" Tormund exclaimed, laughing heartily.

The leaders began to cautiously approach again. Even Mag was watching the dragon carefully, aware that she could even devour his mammoths.

"So, Rattleshirt, are you still planning to kill him?" Tormund asked loudly, drawing everyone's attention to the man, who stood frozen with a fearful gleam in his eyes.

"..."

Rattleshirt couldn't utter a single word.

But Jon surprised everyone as he raised his hand toward the man. Suddenly, Rattleshirt felt his body seized by something invisible, and he panicked.

"What is this?!" Rattleshirt exclaimed, seeing his body levitate while being held, as all the other leaders watched in shock.

"I wanted to kill you with the blade, but Winter got excited and ended up ruining my plans for a fight. After all, you all lost your will to fight when my dragon arrived. Even so, I still have to deal with you personally," Jon commented calmly, and more and more people returned to the circle, terrified by what they were witnessing—one of their leaders floating through the air, controlled by Jon's telekinesis, as he was pulled toward the dragonborn.

Everyone remained silent as Jon brought the man close to him.

"You really thought I wouldn't find out?" Jon asked calmly.

"..."

Rattleshirt couldn't think or speak about what Jon was referring to. All he could feel was fear. He had heard stories about this, but seeing the man's sorcery up close was terrifying as Jon held him right in front of him.

"Karsi… I need you to take a group of men to the tent next to the main one in this man's camp. He took Lafy and is holding him prisoner to use against me," Jon said calmly.

"What?!" Karsi exclaimed, shocked to hear that her nephew had been captured.

"Yes… take some men and bring him here. I saw everything through my owl and was holding back until now. But I won't show mercy anymore. I will do something to this man that will make even the White Walkers seem merciful…" Jon spoke calmly as he held Rattleshirt, who could do nothing as he floated in the air, completely at Jon's mercy.

"He took my brother?!" Lucis shouted angrily upon hearing this, while Daenerys looked at her with concern.

"That bastard… he will pay for this!" Karsi growled, glaring at her tribe. "Let's go get the boy!" she said, while the entire camp remained silent, watching the unfolding situation.

Jon turned toward the onlookers.

"She's going to retrieve the boy. If anyone tries to stop her, Winter will spit ice. It's time to handle things this way," Jon said loudly and clearly.

No one stood in Karsi's way as she passed through the camp with thirty men, Lucis among them, heading to retrieve her brother. Daenerys stayed behind with Ygritte and other members of Karsi's tribe.

"What are you planning to do?" Mance approached Jon.

"He will pay in a very bad way," Jon replied.

He was about to do something unforgettable—something that would make it clear to everyone that no one could challenge him again. Jon wasn't forcing the Free Folk to accept him as their king or anything like that, but he wouldn't allow them to think they could stand against him.

Mance said nothing more. Many expected him to try to control the situation, but it was clear he wasn't in control anymore. Even the leaders who weren't Jon's supporters did nothing to help Rattleshirt escape the sorcerer's grasp, while the man himself began to regain awareness.

"What are you doing?! Release me from this magic!" Rattleshirt shouted, searching for his men among the onlookers, but none of them entered the circle, intimidated by the dragon's gaze.

"!!"

Rattleshirt felt his throat tightening as Jon began to clench his hand.

"Can you shut up and wait until the others arrive?" Jon asked calmly, while more and more people filled the circle again after running from the dragon, eager to see what would happen next.

It was a moment later when Karsi appeared with her men, along with Lucis and little Lafy. The boy was fine, but the marks on his wrists showed that he had been severely tied up, and his bruised face made it clear that Rattleshirt had beaten him while keeping him captive.

"You kidnapped the boy thinking you could hurt me... I understand. You weren't here during the last moons, and it seems I don't have as much respect in this place as I thought. So, it's time I show those who try to harm me what I am capable of..." Jon spoke calmly.

Lafy was a sort of apprentice to him in this place, and everyone knew that. What Jon was about to do would be extremely cruel, but at least people would begin to truly respect him.

Mance Rayder, Mag, Tormund Giantsbane, Karsi, Styr, Harma Dogshead, and Sixskins all watched in silence, making no comment. The same could be said for Daenerys, Lucis, Lady, Ygritte, and Val, who had just arrived, as the entire camp watched Jon standing beneath the dragon.

In the next moment, Jon threw Rattleshirt to the ground, allowing the man to finally breathe again, though he remained dazed. Jon raised his hand once more, and everyone watched as the bone axe lying on the ground began to levitate and then drop near Rattleshirt, guided by Jon's telekinetic power.

"Pick up the axe and at least keep fighting in your final moments," Jon said calmly as Rattleshirt recovered from his choking and struggled to stand under everyone's gaze. He looked at Jon cautiously and saw the axe on the ground.

Rattleshirt had no choice. He was already a dead man after taking Lafy. Despite his fear, he would at least die with dignity, so he picked up his axe.

Taking a step back without saying a word, he let out a battle cry and charged at Jon, determined to die fighting, knowing he had no chance of winning. But before he could take a second step, everyone saw a massive object strike his head, killing him instantly.

Jon had pulled his axe from the dimensional space and ended the fight in an instant. The axe left Rattleshirt's skull as his body collapsed to the ground, dead. The weapon returned to Jon's hand before disappearing again into the space where he stored it.

No one could say a word. They all stood in stunned silence, watching Jon approach Rattleshirt's fallen body.

No one could have predicted what he would do next. As he raised his hand over the cooling corpse of the leader, a purple mist began to rise from Rattleshirt's body, drifting toward Jon's hand and forming into a sphere. Everyone's eyes widened in shock, not understanding what he was doing. Even Jon's women watched in disbelief.

"What are you doing?!" Mance asked, stunned.

"I am taking his soul. I am the dragonborn, and those who use others to harm me will have their souls taken by me. They will have no life after death."

With those words, Jon made the soul disappear.

Upon hearing his words and seeing his actions, everyone—without exception—felt fear. A fear that only the White Walkers had ever instilled in them. Not even the dragon seemed as terrifying as the

thought of someone who could claim their souls and deny them the right to rest after death.
