"She" (2) - 9

"And it's nice to meet you too, Chione."

Approaching me, she held out her hand, a simple gesture for our first meeting I supposed.

"It's nice to meet you too."

There was no expression of surprise on either of our faces, as we both expected that the other would know our name, the only thing that might have been remotely surprising was me seeing her here.

But, my face had always been a mask of nothingness, so nothing had really been expected in that area either.

As for her, she already knew that I got my shipment at about this time every week, so it wasn't like she was going to be surprised either.

Overall, it was like we both knew everything that had happened and that was about to happen.

And, due to this, we just silently nodded to each other a few times, having thought out the same conversation over a certain period of time.

The nods were basically an acknowledgement that we both knew what to do.

This was literally only possible because she had the mind of an adult, and had been abnormally intelligent in the first place, whilst, after seeing my greeting to her, she had sensed that I had "seen" the same thing as her, so we both just acted as we planned.

Unbeknownst to her, I could only do this after staying by her side for all those years, learning it about 5 years after meeting here, just before we left for Halcyon.

Right now, she probably just assumed that, although I had a trash constitution, I made up for this with all my "stats points", so to say, being put into an "intelligence stat".

Keep in mind that everything I had just said above was purely a way for you, the reader, to understand what she understood about myself, and wasn't actually a system used in this world.

Although, it had been a system used on Earth.

Of course, all this information she had on me had come from my father, as she was his favorite after all.

Well, back to the current situation, I just made sure that my alcohol arrived, grabbed a few bottles, before leaving.

The servants would bring the rest to my room.

"Have a good day, 9th Sister."

Bowing my head slightly, I bid my goodbyes and left her sight.

Immediately after, I took out my flask and took a long, hearty swig.

Feeling the liquor burning as it made its way down my throat, I couldn't help but relish in the pain.

I needed it, as a distraction.

A distraction from this whole mess that my heart was in.

"Sigh... when will it ever learn?"

Of course, I was muttering about my own heart.

...

"Boss, my side has secured the package. Thank you for your tip."

"Ah, you finally managed to do that?"

"We hit a few complications during the way, but in the end, we secured it, and that's all that matters. We'll all be benefitting anyways."

"Good work."

Speaking that to the inception sitting on my desk, I couldn't help but think a few happy thoughts about how everything was going to plan.

Remember how I had sent out those inceptions on the day that 8th Brother left? Well, my work was starting to bear fruit, as I had been able to connect with two very powerful people.

You could see it in their speech earlier, but it was obvious from the way that the first never responded to the second's provocations that he was someone that couldn't care less about the opinion of the other.

Anyways, let me explain this "Triumvirate" that I had created.

First off, the main goal of it was to boost the amount of money and socio-economic standing of all the forces behind it.

One of the vertices of the triangle was obviously me, the information dealer that the other two now trusted with their life due to some manipulating I had done, ie. I had revealed a bunch of secretive information about each person to their face, using my inceptions of course.

The second of the vertices was the head of one of the Big 3 Families, Yun Trantor, who was the head of the family specializing in business, and who controlled most of the businesses in Lumi.

The third of the vertices was the "Tower Master" of the "Black Tower", a place that housed all those studying black magic, ie. people who made contracts with demons and borrowed their powers.

All in all, in a relationship where each one of us used the other two, with a contract we had each signed stating we wouldn't hurt the other two parties, we had created this "secret society".

Of course, I was the only one that knew the true identities of the other two, whilst they referred to each other as Moneypants and Laplace.

Being in a secret organization, I had obviously created a pseudonym for myself too, and so the both of them called me "Unkindness", as I used a flock of ravens to relay the messages we had to say between each other.

As for the thing I was using now to talk to them, it was basically a set of three special ravens that could translate what the others ravens were hearing and then wrote it in ink on their bodies.

Truly a marvelous ability if I had to say so myself.

Now, you might be wondering how this alliance even worked.

It was simple really, I provided the information on "interesting" opportunities, Moneybags funded the operations, and Laplace would use his position and powers to make our lives a lot easier, ie. sending people to erase certain other peoples' memories, sending demons to erase "messes", and planning the details of the operations with his cunning mind among other things.

We were a group that perfectly complimented each other, and the results were already showing.

I could already hear my father scrambling as he tried to deal with an even richer Yun.

'And this will probably force him to work with the mage family in the Big 3. He's already worked with mages once, so his resistance in accordance with the age old tradition of not associating with mages has already been broken.'

It was kind of nice that something good was happening to me for a change.

Taking a swig from my flask, I sat and leaned back in my chair, putting my feet on my hardwood desk.

The operation had been a stressful thing for me, so now that it had finally succeeded, and my sister had been taken care of for the most part right now, I could finally rest, even if this would only be a brief respite from my troubled world.

'Ah... what a great day.'

I took another swig from my flask.
